Growth time vs potency

I was wandering if the time it takes for a substrate to pin and for the fruits to reach full maturity allows for a greater potency than a substrate that pins quickly and or mushrooms that grow pretty quick. I've noticed after eating both kinds at different the ones that took longer to pin and to grow seemed to me to be more potent while the quick fruiters had almost no potency at all. I was just wandering if anyone else had noticed this or if it was just by chance it happened this way for me.

Unless you were using isolates, I would chalk it up as MS genetics.

I'm a firm believer that potency is genetic. I've never seen anything to indicate otherwise nor do I feel the need to explore further
I've worked with my isolates for a good while now.
Sometimes a slow fruiter will be more potent, like PE strains tend to be.
I've also seen it go in reverse more than once.
If you're using MS, sometimes every fruit will vary in potency because they are coming from distinct strains or composites of multiple strains.

The basis for potency is genetic, as the genes determine mycelium's predilection to certain metabolic paths. However that's just their prediliction, and there are yet still factors that effect potency, one of which you've touched on spaceman101. The metabolism itself takes place over time - with more time, potent genes can produce more psilos. Many people have noticed this dynamic, here is the furthest back post for it on here I can remember "potency project" for consolidation and "potency project" for PE
