That's pretty much what I did, while everyone was talking and making sure everyone is ok, my wife and I grabbed her purse which was right next to my bag of shrooms and just stuck them in her purse and we proceeded to get into a car of someone's that was kind enough to take us to the hospital, the cops came to the hospital and got our info and everything is fine now. By the way as far as I know shrooms are not illegal in florida I was just taking extra measures to not have anymore issues compounded on what had already happened. I leave no stone uncovered.

I was also in the military, multiple deployments and have been in high impact collisions, so I was fine when we got hit, I took the t bone impact to my right side and got out of the car right after being hit. I proceeded to tend to my wife and other people seeing as I was a medic in the Army. No medical issues except for the abrasions on the inside of my bicep and deep bruising to my tricep.

In Georgia its so strange, got pulled over with some weilli on me, threw them on the seat so they werent in a bag, told the cop I just picked them and he was fine with it. As long as they werent bagged up and dried. Weird legal grey area that I would never venture into again. But yeah that's georgia so no point for this story in this thread I just thought it was interesting

it really depends on the cop that day also...one cop will bust you in a heartbeat for the same thing the next cop tells you to just go home for....

That could lead to a dui or public intoxication charge.
Psilocybin mushroom posession is a felony in Florida, however there is a possible loophole if you do not know what they arr. Good luck convincing a jury of that if you only have actives however.
Technically that loophole exists in all 50 states because the government has to show mens rea. If you pick every mushroom you see with no intent of finding actives, and you accidebtally find sone, you are in posession of drugs, but not guilty of drug posession. Florida is the only state where the issue has hit the supreme court however.
Pureless, you very nearly avoided prison time. Next time pick a bunch of edibles along with your actives. Amanita muscaria makes a great distraction and conversation piece if you are in the unfortunate position of having to talk about mushrooms with law enforcment. If you throw in some polypores you will look extra innocent.
I went through a Mexican military checkpoint last night with a dashboard full of Psilocybe aztecorum. I also had 3 colorful and undescribed species of Amanita which drew their attention away from the little brown mushrooms very effectively.
When dealing with police and actives always use the jedi mind trick, these are not the droids you are looking for.

Thinking back on putting the mushrooms on the seat, it makes me sick to the stomach pondering alternate outcomes. I will heed your advice of mixing with colorful non-psilocybes. Hope to never be in that position again though, bad vibes all the way through.

good advice!...i thought something happened in Washington state involving that loophole and i thought i read that changed the wording in the law to "material(s) containing psilocybin" to avoid that from happening again... could be wrong though...

Does not matter how they word it, mens rea is still an element of the offense in all us drug laws. They need to prove that you know that you have drugs to find you guilty. If you have a bag of actives in your pocket, that would generally mean that you know that you have drugs. If you have a basket with a ton of different species, they would need to show that you are good at identifying mushrooms to prove mens rea.
Of course courts are unpredtable and the outcome of borderline cases often comes down to the relative skill of the lawyers. However if you have a whole bunch of types, the cop probably won't arrest you in the first place.
Right now I have 600 or so bags of dried mushrooms with me, of which about 7 are active. That would be a hell of a job for an analytical chemist!

lol, im not sure their are too many cops in this world that bust you with 600 different bags of mushrooms....they would have to shell out a lot of money for that chemist with the amount of work it would take to go through all those lol! but i definitely see your point.

I have observed other scientists, when traveling with large Psilocybe collections split them up into many small bags, and label each bag with a bogus collection number, name, date and location. I must say, they looked pretty professional, should fool most cops.
