Got mine from Wal Mart. I think Canadian Tire has them as well if there's one nearby you. Probably best to get 1/2 pint - stick to the TEK as best as possible so if something goes wrong you can easily get help and understand why.

Or...these are my favorites by glad.... They're just barely over 8 oz... Extremely durable. Come in packs of 3, and both are pretty cheap.

DynGBreeD If doing cakes in the plastic how do you manage the steam part of the process without your plastic melting?
Thanks...I'd love to try them just to see how it goes.
Wish I had known about those 2 weeks ago. Defiantly going to try them out next time.

Thanks for the idea with the tubs [Re: Torgo2212]

So these tubs are PC safe . Is this time for sterilization the same as with glass jars? Anybody know about how much more likely contamination would be without use a pressure cooker . Maybe heating non hydrated substrate in oven then adding water to it putting in jars tubs and heating with water and steam for a good couple of hours . I've heard of not using a pressure cooker but seen that people say contamination rate is very much higher . What about preserilizing the jars or tubs and substrate then doing the mixing in a glove box . The a pot of water with good lid to help keep steam in work if jar filling of pre sterilized substrate is done in glove box or would it be wise to wait the Several months till the PC could be bought ? I Wanted the character to jars going by Christmas

Im just a noob myself but i know you can steam sterilize BRF cakes in a pot with some water, but they have to be elevated so the arent touching the bottom of the pot or else theyll crack. Look at RR's videos. they are very helpful. But this is all for edible mushrooms.. i dont know if the same rules apply for the illegal ones

Fungusamongus1 said: Let's say a fictional person wanted to cultivate some b+ or Ecuador . Let's say this person doesn't want a massive cultivation operation . Let's just say maybe enough to get 16 dried grams a month of shrooms . Here's a little about the fictional character . He is disabled . Has a low monthly income , a clean closet area . This character has brought many thing into this world . He or she has incubated chickens , quail , geese and so on . Also this person has grew many flowers , plants , trees , cactus , and slime molds . This person wanting to grow some fictional shrooms about 16 grams a month had been gifted with12 1/4 pint wide mouth jars , and 6 tall tapered 1/2 pint jars . Remember this character only has a very right income . This person has an ultrasonic humidifier , the top to an unused still air incubator for hatching eggs . They also have a few syringes that were gave to them by a friend , also has two pounds of brf and 2 gallons of medium verm . Also the person has a timer that has 15 minute increments . This person who remains in my story doesn't own a PC , or any wide mouth 1/4 pint jars . Now this person wants to know for their story if they could get anything from 6 1/2 pint long jars and the 12 1/4 pint wide jelly jars . Would it require a different ratio of verm and brf for the 1/4 pint jars as opposed to the 1/2 pint tall jars . Plus how could this person sterilize the jars without a pressure cooker would inverting the lid of a big pot and putting a heavy weight on the lid help out any increasing the steam pressure at all . Would it be better to use a tad more water and heat the jars right at the bottom inch of the jars . Would this and maybe adding a little bit more moisture to the substrate ? What would be the ingredients be just the brf and verm with a top layer of verm over the substrate ? . This person will eventually get some 1/2 wide mouth jars but not till next year . For Christmas I'd like this character to then get a gift of a PC . But for now this person has decided that since they had the spores for a bit and need to use them . Should this person go ahead and experiment with these jars . There is just so much conflicting information and I want my fictional story to come out as accurate as possible. Thanks for reading and any advice about writing this story and having it as accurate and true to life as possible would be greatly appreciated .

When we dream we may encounter ourselves in a way we have never guessed ,and being awake that can be one hell of a nightmare .
you posted about growing some fictional shroomz on this site mate? man you screwed up big time DEA, FBI and NSA have you on their data base already, guaranteed!
they coming for you...

I just birthed my glass jars! haha, i went to a few places and ended up just getting these from ace. they worked great! but i liked the plastic because the seem more durable, and less heavy. but in the end ill probaby just use both haha.

glass>plastic
Why? Not being a dick, but, other than personal preference, what's the difference? I see that the bands will eventually rust for the glass...having to buy different lids for the glass ones is another con. I guess for the plastic, you can't just buy lids, so you'd have to buy all new ones. Glass is fragile, might break. Plastic, well......what are the cons? Scratches? I already have 8 glad jars colonizing. Everything worked during the sterilization like it should have. They are colonizing away, ATM.

I wrote a fictional scenario about a fictional character . What I can't post fictional scenarios as they interest me and so does reading ? Anyways peace and good luck with all your yummy edibles as they are all I eat . I do study mycology though and collect spores and study them in the field . It's more interesting seeing people growing tasty edibles at home instead of buying from the money hungry corporations .
