ADVICE NEEDED: Mono/Trays to SFGC first attempt - ready to fruit? pictures included
    #18963081 - 10/11/13 09:17 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

UPDATED PHOTOS BELOW.......

So I was attempting my first mono tub and didn't get the ratios right using the daimon5050 tek.  Yeah, I know, follow the tek.  Still cutting my teeth!

Since I didn't have any other BRF jars ready at the time, I decided the next morning (8 hours later) to put what I had into trays and try to continue it as a mono type grow.

The myc is definitely taking off, I'm inclined to leave it alone and assume the closed system nature of the mono will produce the RH regardless of the amount of sub in there, it's probably half of what it should be for a tub this size and the level the holes are at but the trays will help that.  And if I'm not getting the FAE necessary I can drill lower holes later since everything is in trays.

Looking for some expert advice here, on if I will have the RH necessary for this to succeed?  I think my options are 1) leave it alone  2) move it to a new mono when it's time to fruit that has soaked perlite under the trays  3) move it now  4) other ideas?

Ignore the above post, he obviously knows nothing about bulk in monotubs.

You want to tape up the holes until the substrate is fully colonized(all white), then stuff the holes with polyfill for fresh air.

You want high co2 for colonization and lots of fresh air for fruiting.

The RH will be perfect when the time comes.

You want all the holes taped up like he said untill the whole thing looks white.  For fruiting conditions you want the bottom of the lower holes to be aligned with the top of the substrate.  When tour ready to fruit The polyfill gets put in tight in the bottom holes and loose on the top holes you can even pull one of the top holes untill you get pins then replace it.  The whole idea of the monotub is if you do it properly its very little maintenance.  Ideally you want a fan running in the room and a humidifier running in the room.  Then you don't have to do anything but wait.  I do occasionally fan it a little to get a nice influx of fresh air.  The thing with monotub a is the humidity and the amount of fresh air are like linked if your getting more fresh air your humidity will drop.  So I don't really fan that much maybe once every three days and mist it a little after. It's not even nessacary.  The fan and the humidifier will really help though.

I tried this once and didn't do it again.

I'd recommend using your SGFC for those trays. You fill a monotub with substrate, not trays

Frank, are you suggesting that happen now, or let them colonize as is and move for fruiting?

When you say you did it once but not again, did it fail, or was it just not as strong of a grow as you'd prefer?

Appreciate your advice, thanks.

Let them colonize and then move them to an SGFC would be your best course of action IMO

It worked, the substrates dried out a bit too quickly and it wasn't ideal but I got some food out of it. It's your call, I think the SGFC would give better results when fruiting.

Photos from day 10, is same sequence as day 8 photos essentially.

Would appreciate any feedback on if these are looking normal, ready to fruit (probably not) or stalled.  Really not sure what I'm looking for, they aren't filling out to solid blocks of myc like I thought they would, seems like there is still lots of substrate in the surface for the 10th day.

trays are in a sealed monotub style chamber @ 72 degrees constant.  seems to be some water accumulating in the bottom of the tub.

NEED ADVICE: Mono/Trays to SFGC first attempt - ready to fruit? pictures included [Re: SynKyd]
    #19010574 - 10/21/13 08:35 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

I used a little better camera, still taking through saran wrap so not great but better I think

So can someone please take a hard look at the progression from day 8 through current day 11 and help me understand if these are ready to fruit, stalled, or should I jsut wait another day, or two, or ?

Day 11 of bulk tray grow, heading to SFGC when ready.
