Sports, do you follow them, are they like a religion?

Somebody sort of mentioned this in another thread. Looking to see what people think.
Personally I dont follow sports, and think it is a bit silly how some people get over them. Ive been on teams in highschool, and like going to actual games. But more so for the experience.
Anyone else have any thoughts?

Not a big fan of sports myself. I think taste in sport/team is very geographical and when you travel a lot it's hard to identify with any one game/team.

Yeah, I love sports. I do pour a lot of emotion into it. When I'm sitting there butthurt as fuck after a tough loss and I'm feeling sick and shit, do I start to wonder why I pour so much emotion into something that amounts to nothing more than a meaningless game? Yeah, I do get that. And I do wonder that sometimes.
What can I say, though. I still love it, and for me watching world class athletes compete at an elite world level -- I find it extremely entertaining.

I've always lived by the shitty teams so I really don't care much for any particular team. I have a favorite college football team which is about as far as that goes and they're not that good and I really don't care if they win or lose.
I think sports are cool though, even if there is no point. Some of the skills some athletes have are really awesome. I'm pretty bad at skateboarding, but I like watching the street league skateboarding when it's on TV, considering it's kinda hard for me to go down a slight hill or drop in on a skateboard, seeing those guys do some of the things they can do is awesome. And that goes across to all sports that require such precision and accuracy to excel. Simple brute force type things aren't nearly as interesting though I like seeing skill.
