Habitat: Grows on doug fir forest floor in western OR Cascades, in humus floor.
Gills: Cream false gills
Stem: Stem is 3-6" long 3/8" wide at base.
Cap: Diameter: hard to tell - fluted w/wings, color - reddish orange, texture - smooth/peeled toward center, conical, fluted
Spore print color: Very important!
Bruising: None
Other information: None to mild scent
There is another photo I need to post, but will have to do it as an edit...
Thanks, gigi2

Can you provide a photo of the cap as well? There are some Gomphus species that have false gills like a chanterelle.

Yeah looks like Catharellus californicus. Where are you located? Actually that might not be a chantrelle.

What jet li said, minus the californicus part. They do look like chants of some sort.

They don't smell like anything, though. I have a really nice white one that smells wonderfully like apricots, but not these. How much should I rely on scent for ID?

Yes! I believe that is correct. The color between stem and cap are so different, and the peeling in the center appear like stamen or tendrils. Thanks so much!

It is definitely a G. floccosus. They are beautiful. Especially in big troops.

I'd have to actually touch and handle the thing, but it doesn't look like the Gomphus floccosus that I usually encounter (the stem is way too thin, and the ridges are too pronounced), looks more like a Cantharellus sp. to me. Never hunted in Oregon though.
For comparison, here are some G. floccosus from Puget Sound:

I third (fourth?) G. floccusus, and not unlike forms I would find in Idaho.
I ate them a couple times. Very good, but the gas afterward was no fun.

I speculate that the sour off-taste may be caused directly by the norcaperatic/agaricic acid content, and that the presence or strength of this character may be indicative of how unpleasant the ill effects might be.
I wouldn't suggest somebody else go around eating it, but I might experiment with this some time.

If you're going to experiment -> Fresh ginger is used in Chinese Medicine to detoxify meat toxins. I wonder if it could detox mild shroom toxins, too.
