Habitat: Grassy lawn near forest, Wisconsin
Gills:

Grey at the top, then turn blackish, not attached as far as I could tell.
Stem: White, very fragile, hollow. thin (fell apart when I picked it)
Cap:

Was white before I picked it, then quickly started turning blackish grey and seemed like it was melting? Conical, Convex
Spore print color:
Black, almost like ink
Bruising: Not sure if the melting thing was bruising? haha
Other information: Thees other mushrooms were near it, and I'm not sure but I think they are the same species, but older and deteriorated.

Yes but unless I am mistaken they will cause you problems if you eat them with alcohol.

Coprinus comatus does not contain coprine, I've heard. So, it's ok to consume alcohol, but they need to be harvested young, and cannot wait to cook them as they decompose quickly, like all coprinoid species.

I just started hunting this year, and it is so much fun. I'm hoping to find some active ones but just as happy finding edibles.

Only one species does this. C. atramentarius

Cool I m happy to learn this. I knew I had read something some time ago about inky caps being bad with alcohol. I didn't want to leave anything to chance for the OP.

Haha, yeah. I have eaten C. comatus with I think it was a whiskey in tonic.
Not the best match for dinner but I had whiskey and mushrooms. What could I do.
Oh btw, it caused no problems. Nor did the beers I had later.
