Based on the results, almost half of the Americans want states to secede from the USA.

Interesting

Fucking sad but true.

if davis gets governor, i'm hopeful she can turn things around for us. i don't know a whole lot about her policies but on the outset i do like her.

She has no shot and you know it.  Turn things around in what way?  Make your economy suck as much as California's.  You like her because your entire knowledge of her is as a stupid abortion at any time demagogue.

The size of a state's prison population has no value as a measure of liberty.

I would love it. Well, the idea I have of it at least.

Our government should fear us.

Although a territorial army would probably be beneficial. If we all started bailing out, it would come down to the last few states becoming "America" by default, and thus being responsible for our global debts.

Although I imagine state's "armies" would work together...

Half of people who answered your poll on a drug website want some states to fuck off.  This is not indicative of anything remotely related to the larger group, Americans.

actually she's from my area and has done a lot for my county in the way of jobs. i may not know everything about her, but i do know she's big on education, which is good considering texas' influence over the rest of the country with education and virtually everything else due to its sheer size and population. i think texas needs sensible, moderate governance, and davis seems to be a good candidate for that on the outset. i could be wrong though. and i hope you're wrong about her having a shot.

i do like her because she's an advocate of women's reproductive rights. and i won't apologize for that.

i'll also beg to differ regarding texas's prison system. we have some of the harshest drug laws in the country and it is directly related to our growing prison system. i could see things getting worse if texas were cut off the constitutional leash. but that's neither here nor there since it's never going to happen.

I'd rather see California fuck off and become Mexicali.  Then they can sing the blues all alone.  In order to remain at 50 states NY should split in two.

This is great.

Texas law and legislation have some of the worst threats to individual liberty in this country.

Since they can't use the "T" word, a lot of our rights are violated under surcharge fees, and other bogus hidden taxes.

Cases regarding surcharge fees have been some of the most horrible stories I've ever heard:

Person A gets ticket usually because they were unaware that insurance card expired, yet still is insured.

Person A shows proof of insurance, still has to pay ticket, blah blah blah.

Person A gets pulled over again 8 months later to find out is license has been suspended.  Why?  He was sent a surcharge fee that he never received and never knew about.  Under the "Drivers Responsibility Act" (wasn't that what the ticket charge was for?) passed 10 years ago, drivers are responsible for additional fees under certain violations, and what is worse is the payment is handled by a third party private company.

Person A is then arrested and put in jail.  Don't mess with Texas.

Under federal law, the Driver's Responsibility Act is completely unconstitutional.

Just say, "sure, go ahead"?

I don't really give a damn, let's dissolve this country and make 50 new ones that are all pretty much the exact same then we can say we did something!

Bullshit.  Especially how the majority of them are in prison because of the war on drugs either indirectly or directly.
