What would you have your ideal life be like? My ideal life includes hot pothead wife, small self sufficient homestead in Colorado, and a permaculture business. Of course I'd also like to improve the world in some way (even in small ways).

Are you doing anything towards achieving any of those goals? I'd guess that having the business would lead to the others pretty well/easily

Yeah I'm about to graduate college. I honestly couldn't be in a better position to achieve this goal considering my degree is based on nature. Damn I thought more people would like this thread!

super cool wife who's beautiful to me, fulfilling career that allows me to write and continually expand my intellectual horizons, nice house in the desert with enough money to do what i want. maybe kids, maybe not. i'm in school now working towards something, but as of now the future is uncertain.

I've been broke my whole life and I have had trouble holding a legitimate job especially since catching a felony. I know it sounds shallow and selfish but I would just like to be comfortable and have a stable job

Some place where I can get a scrip for weed or grow my own, somewhere I can stand to be in the sun or have the window open.
Moderate traffic.
Sound proof room for music.

Well its kind of a tough thing to think about for many people. I spent 17-23 asking myself this question (within reasonability) probably every day.
Also @niteman It isn't too hard to live comfortable Yea you won't be able to smoke an 8th a day unless your selling/growing too but it really is easily doable. You'll be there some day, probably sooner than later.

i know your struggle. i'm a felon from when i was a teen. my advice is to either learn a trade in an industry where background isn't an issue or earn a degree in a field where background can be overlooked.
i was a cadd tech for 11 years. i started out in architecture but moved into civil engineering and specialized there. completely self taught. i have a knack for drawing so i picked up drawing construction plans rather quickly. construction is a good field to get into. i'd probably still be doing what i was doing had the banks not crashed and my life took the turns it did. now i'm in college earning a degree.
you will undoubtedly have some extra hurdles to overcome, and you will undoubtedly have some doors slammed in your face over your record. my best advice is to not give up. there is a place in the world for you if you will it so.

My ideal life: making art, admiring fresh fruit and botanical things, having a few friends to study math/philosophy with, inventing new languages, playing on the swings, sewing stuffed animals, occasionally using mushrooms I've picked in the wild and identified. In my ideal life everyone would be a disembodied soul so there would be no competition for resources/beauty/food, we would all be pure loving spirits curious about the world.
