mini green spot on 95% colonized jar
    #18965056 - 10/11/13 05:48 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

ill cut to the chase. the spot is on the lower middle of the jar in the picture.

g2g jar from 16 days ago
should i toss this? or when spawning just cut that part out? no other apparent spots that i can see. all other jars appear clean. any idea what it is?
it almost just looks like rotten grain haha.

ps is it sketch to throw away grain with growing cubensis mycellium in my public trash? alternatives for disposal?

not experienced enough to tell you about that spot or if it will cause any problems after spawning, but for disposal just throw that shit in a plastic bag, go to the closest dunkin donuts and toss it in the outside trash can.

Toss....just because the spot is small to the naked
eye. Doesn't mean contamination isn't throughout
the entire spawn.

Not worth a ruined grow, or jeopardizing future grows.
IMO.

Toss it. It's only green when it's sporulating. The myc of the contaminate mold is white too and chances are it's throughout the jar. If it's trich then you're definitely not saving it as trich can "eat" the cube mycellium.

As for throwing it out I don't even bother with trashes. I take a drive and toss substrates out in forests or woods.

Out of curiosity, how does it jeopardize future grows?

Even if you remove the green from that picture I would have counted that jar as a trasher anyways by the look of the growth.

It's just an enormous load of extra mold spores you don't want to breathe in or open around your other jars/grains/subs/tubs/plates, etc. Yes, there are mold spores floating around in the air we breathe but by opening the jar and emptying it out you're releasing a billion extra spores.

8 year old thread, nice bump!
