Identification Needed Please

Hello everyone. I'm assuming these are psychedelic mushrooms but I have never done them before so I don't know what to look for.
They were found in a exroommates room and he claims that they are fake. He left under bad circumstances so I'm not sure if he's telling the truth or if he's just lying so that I throw them out and don't keep them.
I'm not sure if anyone knows what those woodchips that you put in a hamster/snake cage smells like but that's how they smell.
We are on the east coast of the US.

I would appreciate any help with their identification. I'd like to try them but I'd rather not die. Please let me know if you need any more information.

They're surely moldy, but they no not look like P. cubensis.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

So even if they were real the mold would make them bad to eat I'm assuming?

I wouldn't eat those even if they are Psilocybe cubensis, that's just asking for trouble.
Very sketchy looking.

Potentially. It would depend on the mold.

They are too yellow to be P. cubensis. Gross. Throw them out.

They could be all sorts of things. The base of the stem is rather bulbous.
If you have a microscope it would be cool to see the spores.

Well, they are going in the trash. I've wanted to try some real ones for years now but it's not happening today apparently.
Oh well, at least I didn't take them and die from it. That would be a great obituary to read..."Local man dies from eating random moldy mushrooms".
Thanks for the help everyone.
