First grow in progress. Input appreciated!

Hello everyone. I'm a long time lurker, but this is actually my first post here on the forum. This website has been invaluable in my endeavors and I would like to thank the community for providing such great information.
Anyway, I am in the middle of my first grow using the B+ strain following the "PF Tek." I finally birthed my cakes 8 days ago after leaving them for a week to consolidate. I'm using a shotgun style fruiting chamber and the temp has been around 70F and humidity around 90-99%.I am a little worried that they haven't started pinning yet and I would like some input on how my cakes look from some more experienced growers. Today I also realized that some sections on my cakes look slightly grey and I'm starting to worry they are contamed with cobweb. Any input would be much appreciated.

They look fine to me. From a distance it looks like you might have a few knots forming. Keep misting and fanning. Make sure your SGFC is raised up.

Thanks for the quick replies! My FC is raised about an inch off the shelf. I've been misting about 3 times a day and fanning the hell out of the closest and the chamber.
I'm not going to lie I jumped the gun a little and went ahead and sprayed my cakes with some h2o2. There were some much darker grey spots that I didn't capture in these pictures. When I sprayed them, they sizzled like a steak being slapped on the grill and they grey spots seemed to clear up. I'm hoping I didn't overdo it though and just ruin my grow. My house is pretty dirty and I have seen cobweb in it before, some of these spots definitely seemed to resemble it.

*update*
Getting close to the 2 week mark. Took some new pictures. Looks like there are a lot of knots forming. Any more input would be appreciated.

Those bumbs are the knots you'll get pins in a few days then the fun part. Once your pins are set they grow fast.

Not too important really, but it's best to use as little foil as possible imo. You won't want to block the humidity that comes up from the perlite directly beneath where your future pins will be.

I'm about to start growing with the same method and same type of spores. It will also be my first time too, but good luck. I hope they turn out good.

Still no signs of pinning. Am I just being impatient at this point or should I be looking into a potential problem? The humidity has been around 93% and temp 73F. Could the fact that I have then in a closest be the reason they are taking so long?

Gray that sizzles when hit with hydrogen peroxide is definitely contamination, mushroom mycelium has no reaction at all to H2O2.
I would toss or at least isolate the gray ones before they start sporing. When the cobweb forms tiny black specks, it is too late, your entire project is phucked!

skippydude, I just sprayed again with a diluted solution of h2o2 and there was no sizzle. I also don't see any grey areas anymore and I don't see any black spots other than what looks like bits of vermiculite. The pictures I posted in my previous post are pretty much exactly what I look like now. It looks to me like they are covered in knots.

Cobweb spreads fast. Fast as in days. spraying with h2o2 stuns the mycel. maybe you never had cobweb but just upset your cakes by spraying them with peroxide?

To be honest the gray in your pictures looked more like faint blue bruising from misting to me. Don't know why it sizzled then and not now, because once a mold is visible on the surface it has colonized the cake too. So nothing applied topically will fix the problem. Cutting out green spots and salting only slows the inevitable, sporulation of contamination.

Space, you are probably right. It hasn't quite been 2 weeks yet so I'm just going to keep waiting it out and see what happens.
Skippy, look at my pictures. There are no green spots. I don't know why it sizzled then and not now but I can't seem to find any sings of contamination.

Didn't see any green either. It was just another example of how some folks think they can beat contamination. The only thing that beats contamination is aggressive mycelium(which consumes it) and this is rare.

Seen it first hand on a petri dish, so yep I'm sure Plus I've tossed numerous projects outdoors in what I call the mushroom grave yard, and the environmental change causes trich's growth to slow enough for the mycelium to consume it and fruit again.

Anyway, possibility of contams aside, how do my cakes look to you Skippy? Do they look like they are close to pinning to you?

They look great to me, a little blueing from misting, but I think your fine and right on track. They would have gone faster at 75F. Cooler temps = slower thicker fruits

To be quite honest I have only seen this with secondary decomposers(wood lovers) I have yet to see it with primary decomposers(dung lovers)
