MARSHFIELD POLICE/ LSD, a drug from the past, in town
    #18963817 - 10/11/13 12:41 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

http://www.wickedlocal.com/marshfield/news/police_and_fire/x980104445/MARSHFIELD-POLICE-LSD-drug-from-the-past-in-town#thecomments

Marshfield — A dangerous and rarely seen drug - LSD - was discovered in connection with a Marshfield arrest last Saturday and Police Chief Phil Tavares wants the community to be aware of it.

Officers confiscated 80 “hits” of LSD along with a variety of other illegal substances as evidence during an investigation of an incident at a Webster Street residence Oct. 5.

“It is a substance rarely seen in the area and something we really view as a drug of the past,” Tavares said.

According to the chief, police responded at 4:20 a.m. on Oct. 5 to a 911 report that a naked man was attempting to break in to a Webster Street residence. Officers surrounded the house and discovered an open back door that led to a mudroom. Upon entering they observed blood all over the floors and found the defendant naked, crouching against a wall and grinding his teeth.

When officers attempted to arrest him, the defendant struggled and resisted, Tavares said. Dustin Pratt, 30, 20 Guild Road, Sandwich, was eventually handcuffed and transferred to a local hospital for evaluation.

Police received another 911 report of an attempted robbery in the area. Officers went to a second Webster Street residence where they discovered lawn furniture piled up against the house as well as an awning in the deck area that had been pulled down, snapped off and appeared to have bare footprints and fingerprints on it. Police observed blood on the deck and a large folding knife locked in the open position.

The investigation led officers to the roof of the home where they discovered a plaid shirt believed to be the defendant’s. Tavares said it appeared the suspect had attempted to get to the second floor of the home to break in but was unsuccessful. He then went to a nearby house where he gained entrance and was discovered by police.

At the residence where the suspect had allegedly attempted second floor entry, an air conditioner had been installed in a window nearest to where he is believed to have been. That window led to a room where an infant was sleeping that morning.

Tavares said the infant had cried and a dog at the residence had barked before the 911 call was made to police.

A canine was called to the scene and tracked the scent, finding shoes, pants, a backpack and wallet believed to belong to Pratt.

Officers also located five different medications, including the 80 hits of LSD and a supply of morphine among the belongings.

OP forgot to post the second page:

After being medically cleared for release from the hospital, Pratt was returned to the police station, Tavares said, where he continued to exhibit bizarre and violent behavior for hours.

Authorities said Pratt damaged the station’s holding cell by breaking the Plexiglas between the bars, spitting on the walls, scraping paint from the bench and clogging the toilet with paper.

“We believe he was in a rage and high on LSD,” Tavares said.

Pratt was charged with burglary, resisting arrest, open and gross lewdness, possession of a class B drug, possession with intent to distribute a class B drug, malicious destruction of property, attempted burglary and possession of a knife- a burglarious instrument.

Tavares said the incident was very serious and the defendant was fortunate to be alive. “(The suspect) was high, naked, with a knife, on a roof outside the window of an infant’s bedroom at 4 a.m.,” he said. “ He really is lucky he is alive.”

According to Tavares, Pratt was in Marshfield visiting a friend whose parents moor a boat at a local marina.

The chief hoped to alert the public to the dangers of the type of drug believed to belong to the defendant. Blotter acid, known as LSD is a highly dangerous substance rarely seen on the South Shore in the present day, he reiterated.

According to Tavares, the substance is blotted onto perforated squares that one would tear off and place on the tongue to create a hallucinogenic high. Each square is the approximate size of a nickel. It is particularly dangerous because it is absorbed through the skin, Tavares said, so simply touching the paper can cause an adverse reaction. It is typically stored in tin foil, he said.

“It hasn’t been seen in this area for quite some time but is, nevertheless, extremely dangerous. The public definitely should be aware of it.”

I actually think it's cool that they're acknowledging it as an old fashioned drug and not just grouping it in with crack and heroin like some new articles do. LSD has died out.

First of all, they can't assume this is LSD just because it's on blotter paper, in all likely hood it's probably an NBOMe. Also they found FIVE other illegal drugs that they didn't even name. He was probably on a crazy cocktail of drugs and blacked out, so why are they blaming just the supposed "LSD"? Each square being nickel-sized sounds quite large, and LSD on paper probably won't even absorb through the skin. How does the news even manage to get such a skewed view of everything...

So someone took a bunch of old prints and combined them? That will be some sort of type ebay blotter operation and if they get laid it wont be LSD on them. No one uses those for LSD. Assuming those are the hits seized, they may have just found a picture on line, I can't tell. Naked and violent is usually nbomes these days.
I am still amazed cops are too stupid to test this shit on the spot, instead they look like morons that a 14 year old shroomery user knows more than. We know something is or isn't LSD on the spot, they find out it isn't LSD 8 months later when the lab tests come back.

I would hope that they used an erlich's modified reagent on it before assuming it was LSD, but who knows.

I can speak from from personal experience here and say that LSD does not absorb through the skin. Whenever you hear people say that it is always from a freind of your brothers roomates uncle or whatever.

But I have spilled over half a vial of a batch that was of amazing quality all over my skin. Nothing happened.

When people spill liquid though, it is likely it will get on your hands, then if you touch your eyes, nose, mouth, or you have cuts then it will be absorbed

Also:

Quote:

And yesterday I was talking to Nick Sand, and Nick said, "I made a solution of LSD in DMSO…" -- DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) is a chemical that greatly enhances absorption of other chemicals through the skin -- he says, "…I painted it on my skin. Nothing happened." A concentrated solution and nothing happened!

"Marshfield — A dangerous and rarely seen drug - LSD - was discovered in connection with a Marshfield arrest last Saturday and Police Chief Phil Tavares wants the community to be aware of it."

“It hasn’t been seen in this area for quite some time but is, nevertheless, extremely dangerous. The public definitely should be aware of it.”

knives and guns are extremely dangerous too, but we let anybody handle those

the irony

lsd is very safe in the right hands, but very unsafe in the wrong uneducated hands (as unsafe as any psychedelic)
i.e. the man arrested in this article, clearly he either too way too much or misused the LSD (running around naked breaking into buildings...)
or maybe it wasn't lsd he was on...

lsd is the peace drug :-) , it's not a drug from the past, exists very well today too

a shame society doesn't understand it / the need for consciousness exploration/expansion

Lol the title really belongs in an article about quaaludes or laudnum or something. Lsd is certainly hard to find but not dead.I'm bummed that I'm way too young to have ever tried ludes though.

They weren't that great. Ludes are actually still pretty common in Africa under the name 'mandrax'. Or they were. might be dying out in favor of meth there now. There was a bust in NY just a few years ago people cladestinely making quualudes. they seized 13,000 pills IIRC.
