I would tell people not to sabotage themselves, but every example of popular dissent was understood to be controlled opposition at some point in the process.
In your example of the waiter, if he is forever doing bad things, it becomes reasonable to question hiring policies at some point. He is not the head of authority, so does not have the final say.
Your representative is assumed to speak on behalf of many more people than you. You do not order him around like a lackey. He is the celebrity, for better or worse.
I am not being magnanimous in saying so, but the irritating presence of unpopular people can also be blamed on the authorities, who have the power to deal with them, whether justly or unjustly.
Being mostly harmless, myself, I consider it reasonable to ask who is benefiting from the disruption.
At the risk of embroiling knee-jerk, Holocaust revisionists, in speaking of another racist Hell, it occurs to me that the Reichstag Fire was blamed on a mental defective, who still somehow managed to survive during Germany's economic downfall. This event was then followed by an Enabling Act.
Trayvon was an example of the welfare state, lashing out, against a symbol of fascist authority.
If I meant to cherry pick, I can find stories like this behind every possible example of dictatorship.
I'm sorry, but just because you were supported as a change agent does not mean that you cannot be tried in a kangaroo court.

Trayvon? He was an example of what happens when grievance mongers teach their children to carry a chip on their shoulder.

Why do communist states have to enforce their government policies with guns and censorship? When communist governments have free elections and an open media, and the People continue to support the communist government, then I will agree with you...
Why do so many people continue to flock to it and rally behind it? Most people do not like to go against the grain. Communism offers a system where tradition is never questioned, authority is never questioned.
It is all about the military rule, and alpha males just love military rule. That is part of human nature too.
A free society, a society based on choices and individualism is much, much harder for most people to accept. To me it is obvious that such a society is more robust and innovative, however, it is not the norm of many of our natural inclinations.
Most people are tribal and authoritarian and traditionalist and conformist. They hate seeing anyone rise above and question the group. Communism goes along with that perfectly.
The reason it fails is the same reason why the Church eventually lost ground to Galileo- the individual can often times be right when the group is wrong. Free societies are more innovative, more objective, more diverse, more efficient, more sophisticated, and have a host of advantages over collectivist societies.
That is why you didn't see much in the way of invention or art or culture in the USSR. The entire society was based around authority and group think, and it fell before the United States.
Human Nature had less to do with it then Free Will. Free Will can overcome Human Nature.

You overlook the 'Dumb Fuck Theory Of Voters' This theory says that the majority of the voters are so fucking stupid and clueless and uneducated about the political system that they will vote for whoever the media--who drop to their knees and blow the politicians of the particular ideology they aspire to--tells them is the best, coolest, and will give them the most Free Stuff.

The media, like the government, gives the people what they want. People don't want long-term solutions. They want instant gratification. That want platitudes. They want to be lied to convincingly.
When the human species develops a brain that naturally overrides these desires in favor of long-term stability, society will change to reflect that. Until then, expect to see more of the same.

The majority of the people of this country dont give a fuck. First place I looked told me only 60% of eligble voters vote . So just guessing here , I'm gunna say 26% of the country actually makes sense out of the republicans bullshit and votes for it, 34 % goes demosnatch and 40 % just doesn't give a flying fuck enough to even be bothered. You know what else is funny

Mental Disorders in America
Mental disorders are common in the United States and internationally. An estimated 26.2 percent of Americans ages 18 and older — about one in four adults — suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year.1 When applied to the 2004 U.S. Census residential population estimate for ages 18 and older, this figure translates to 57.7 million people.1

Do you know how many people voted for Romney ? 57 million.

The definition of insanity is often said to be doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. That is also roughly the number of people who voted for Obama even though he had proven himself to be a fuck up.
