ok long story short.
im going to get a new gun. this time i have decided to buy 702 or 802 mossberg plinkster. i got a few cannons and now i want something small i can target practice and do some plinking. i live in half country half suburbs. trailer parks around but can spit and hit a cow field so gun fire is not uncommon as people like to step into there back yard and unload a few rounds. its normal.
anyways i want something small and quiet i can take into the woods and shoot and theach my gf how to shoot. iv been debating between a semi auto and bolt action and i cant decide witch. is bolt action quieter? (im not like some people and shoot a larger calber gun and make every body in 2 miles jump.) i dont want to scare anybody. i hear that bolt action is more accurate. not that it matters its for plinking. but semi auto can be so much fun! what do you think? noise is my biggest concern. semi auto has extra noise from receiver cocking but bolt action would have more gas release from barrel so idk. witch would be better to teach my gf on and have some low key fun?

Ruger 10/22 ftmfw!
The sound from a bolt action will not be noticeably different from that of a semi-auto. Even a .22 long rifle will be loud enough that you want to use ear protection while shooting. Bolt actions are a more stable platform since they do not have the rearward force of the recoiling bolt moving the firearm while the bullet is exiting the barrel, but unless you plan on shooting in an amateur bulls eye competition the difference is negligible.
I have a couple older bolt actions including a Mossberg bolt action .22, as well as two ruger 10/22s and I would say in all seriousness to go for a semi-auto if that is going to be your only firearm. You can get 30 round mags for the 10/22 that are relatively cheap, where as most of the less popular .22s use proprietary magazines that are more expensive and only 10 rounds for the most part.

Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22. It's a semi auto .22 in an AR-15 style body. I have both the .22 and the .223 big brother M&P and both are a blast to shoot. The .22 with reflex sites is bad ass at the range for plinking multiple plates in quick succession, loads of fun to shoot, easy on the wallet. Non-existent recoil, perfect to teach your girl to shoot. Smith and Wesson M&P 15-.22 FTW! You should be able to find one for between $400-$500 maybe cheaper if you find at a gun show or pawn shop. Have fun, I miss shooting haven't been in awhile always lots of fun, and a good thing to know how to do.

OP its all personal preference go to your local range and try out one first. Ask around someone surly wouldn't mind if you look ok and have a lvl head.
I have a 7.62x54r, .270, and a .22LR
I was reading all American hunter magazine and they have a new quite .22 ammo that only reaches ~70Dcb called "CCI quiet-22 one with and one without a segmentation. Also its not for semi-autos.
