so i thought i could do some successful grows using outdoor prints and its been a nightmare! Now i want to get into agar petri dishes to save myself alot of trouble in the future, im going to start out using this tek agar substitute and then inoculating it with a syringe I've made from an outdoor print. Im asking you guys for suggestions and advice and also what recipes/teks worked best for you! thanks!

I have tried BRF paste instead of agar before and there's a good reason no one around here uses it. It really sucks. Agar is cheap especially if you have an asian grocery somewhere or maybe even health food store. I can get 25g pouches of telephone brand agar for like 3-5$. If you're going to cut any corner just try making a no-pour jar for the agar, but even that sucks compared to just pouring a petri dish.
You don't have to do much digging to find good info on agar but you will for that BRF paste stuff burred in the dead and forgotten abyss of failed teks.

One problem with agar in jars is that they are a PITA to work in. I found them cumbersome to try and isolate healthy myc away from contams. Petris are way easier to work with.
It's good that you realize you need to use agar for your wild prints.
I'm not sure what the point of making a syringe is though. Just use the spores directly from the print.

noted. Im just going to go with malt extract agar so i dont have to run around collecting ingredients, now my question is would a simple glove box be good enough to do petri dishes?
