sorry 2 chime in, I just love the fact that cyanescens are very active and grow in huge numbers close to each other. Assuming this winter is the ideal climate, what do you think that chance is of finding cyanescens on a wooded river side in Central CA? (92 miles from san francisco.)

wrong cyanescens.
for Psilocybe cyanescens, your chances will be 100% if you change your focus to landscaped areas with woodchips and do not give up. They will be good that you'll have success faster if you head over to the bay area.
-------------------- Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

I consider my mother loads to be in between the 1-2kg mark, which I would pick every other day while waiting at the fish and chip shop for my order to cook. It almost became a drag "ugh....do I have to pick a kilo today?" It was almost like weeding a garden.
I'll show myself out.....time for some sleep. ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz................
p.s Are you sure they're Cyans?
