so i was wondering if it's a good to make polyfill lids for pf jars. i will be using a liquid culture in 1/2 pint jars. my last grow didnt work out so well 4/5 jars got contamination (i think my syringe was contaminated) and the mycelium growth was extremely slow. do you think adding polyfill lids will speed up mycelium growth? thanks!

It wont be any better or faster than the dry verm barrier. If your last syringe was contam(MS?) then why do you think making a LC will help?

A polyfill filtered lid will do nothing to remedy a contaminated syringe or LC. RR

I made my latest jars with polyfill filters and self healing inoculation ports. Got zero Contams, and for most of the jars it decreased colonization time by about a week. The are alot of variables and I still have some slow jars, but it seemed to help most of them.

This isn't typical. Regardless of the lid they should colonize about the same unless it's a shit lid. A dry verm barrier is just as effective as a polyfil/tyvek and SHIP lid.

LCs do just the opposite, they slow you down.
You still have to let the spores germinate, but now you also have to let the LC colonize.
Whereas if you would have just inoculated cakes/grain jars with the spore solution, you would be where you want to be faster.
LC is just a big waste of time, with added risks of contamination IMO.
Making an LC definitely does not save any time at any point.
