Is this contaminated or can the 'good' myc grow fuzzy like this?

looks kinda fluffy for cube myc but it could be. A shot from underneath might be clearer. Is that from spores?

I have a PF tek jar (but with Teff flour), and since it grew past the verm barrier I took a piece and put it on an MEA plate. In the jar the myc starts out very rhizomorphic some eventually get 'fluffy'.
The spores are from the bits and pieces of an empty ~15 year old 'Baggie'. I used this Antibiotic method noc up the jar.
thanks for the help.

If its a fluffy piece of myc that grew through the verm barrier that could explain the appearance. It should probably look slightly more rhizomorphic in few days. Congrats on resurrection

Doubtful.. that looks like cobweb. To be sure transfer a sector to a new plate or two. Spray the old plate. If it melts away instantly then throw them all out.

I totally disagree with SupaThaRipper (sorry dude!)
Your top plate looks fine. I've battled with dozens of strains that are only weakly rhyzomorphic, and that looks like characteristic weakly-rhyzomorphic cubensis mycelium.
Cobweb can also be identified by speed, it often grows 1.5cm or more per day. Myc should be growing around 4mm per day. Cobweb also starts to look more 'cobwebby' as it matures. Like cobwebs made of troll hair. If it is cobweb, it should be easier to identify in a couple of days.
As for your myc changing appearance and becoming more 'fluffy' after a few days, that may be totally normal - when recovering from shock I've seen myc completely revert from strongly rhyzomorphic to fuzzy fluff. It seems to have something to do with nutrition as well.
Either way, do another transfer, and see how it looks.
Good luck! Happy to see shroomerites using agar...

No hard feelings. I just had some plates that looked just like this. Put it to the test.

Thanks guys. I transferred a piece to a new plate.
It did seem to grow faster since it just appeared over a days time and grew about the 1.5cm. Although this is the second day since I noticed it and it still doesn't quite look like the pictures I've seen of cobweb.
I also took another piece from the PF tek jar for another plate. This time when I opened the jar the myc was pressing up against the lid. The piece I took this time wasn't fluffy/fuzzy at all. The jar has a faint mushroom smell.
You can see the section of the jar has fluffy area but most is fairly dense myc.

Holy shit! How long did that take to grow out!? That is not mycelium. Spray with h202 and watch it melt away. Cobweb has a faint smell similar to mushrooms as well.

It's been about three weeks now. I put a droplet on the small fluffy section and it fizzed up a lot. When I put another droplet on the more dense myc it barely fizzed. I also noticed a pool of metabolites where I cut a piece off.

If that grew out in 3 weeks then i am 100% sure it is contamination. Sorry dude

Every thing I've read so far about PF tek say's three weeks for full colonization is within a normal time range. Why do you think otherwise?

Yes but the mycelium would not be trying to outgrow the jar that strongly in 3 weeks. Look at how that looks and look at other jars people have
