What you have the right to ruin society for everyone else? You'll notice in countries with little to no healthcare there are often mentally and physically ill people living on the streets, pissing and shitting everywhere and committing opportunistic crime to survive.
Edit: Maybe rather than healthcare we should simply banish all the sick people from populated areas and let them fend for themselves out in the wilderness

Fine. Don't make everybody else pay for it though.

Exactly.
$140 billion is spent in healthcare for people who are obese. 3/4 of my boomer generation patients are obese; people who never took care of themselves. We all pay for fatty mcfatfuck to drink as much high fructose corn syrup as her little heart can handle.
This will inevitably lead gov't controlled healthcare to implement nutritional laws in the future. Fat people cost way too much money.

Except, that's not how it works. If you are bleeding to death, they don't ask if you can pay to save your life. They save your life. (Yes, there are examples of this not happening, and that is cold — and illegal and immoral, as well.)
So, in reality, what that person has done is purchased a service without the ability to pay for it.

It's horrible. I'm in Europe and I can't stand the fact that 90% of my hospital bills/prescription meds are paidfor by the government. I feel oppressed. I had to spend a few months in a hospital when I was 10, my family was too broke to afford it, and we didn't have to pay a single € for it. Can you believe it ? I mean it doesn't get more authoritarian than that.

I'd suggest suicide, but you'd probably botch the job and then it's just more oppressive health care.

It doesn't matter if YOU haven't done these things. Policy isn't about YOU. Sorry. We can't target laws for each individual. And when it comes to healthcare, your intent doesn't mean shit. Who intends to get cancer, or get shot or bit by a rattlesnake or fall off a ladder and be paralyzed? Are you saying you will refuse care because you can't afford to pay for the services those situations would require? Keep in mind, unless you are in the 1% , you CAN'T afford it. Unless you have insurance. And if you have insurance, why are you getting your panties in a bunch over being forced to buy insurance?

because there is enough force in this country.
i would prefer if they brought awareness to the matter and encouraged the people to do it on their own instead of forcing them and even fine them for not doing so.

Humans eventually get sick, at some point. If they don't have health insurance then it's up to society to pay the cost. We can't have sick/dying people lying around, we're trying to get shit done.
That's the basis of the argument, right?

You can inform and inform and bring awareness until you die (unnecessarily, due to lack of insurance), but abstract facts don't have a chance when you have the other side appealing to emotion and demonizing the people trying to inform. you can encourage people to do it on their own, but when they don't, they are choosing to shift their costs to other people (statistically). Shouldn't there be some sort of way for society to get restitution?

It seems pretty important to people who couldn't get insurance because they have a pre-existing condition, or they couldn't afford it.
Why do we need to delay this? Because there are kinks and unintended consequences? Delay is just saying we'll worry about that later (let's be honest, the people who say delay aren't thinking "later" they are thinking "never") Yeah, some people's plans will get more expensive. BOO FUCKING HOO. Go find a cheaper plan.

Theres no such thing as "obamacare" the word is an attempt by conservatives to tack the negative stigma Obama has in their circles to this healthcare proposal they dont like either.
Real name is: the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Yes, but Obama has claimed the perjorative because once the law is fully implemented and the kinks are worked out, most people will see the law as a good thing. Holy shit, won't that just drive conservatives nuts! The principles in the law are essentially conservative ideas and Obama is getting all the credit.

I guess you haven't been paying attention. Even Obama has been calling it Obamacare.
Quote:
Obama embraces the term 'Obamacare'
President Obama is now happy to call it "Obamacare."
Once a term of derision used mostly by Republicans who have vowed to repeal the new health care law, Obama deployed it in both of his Colorado appearances on Wednesday.
"The Affordable Care Act -- also known as Obamacare," Obama said to applause from backers at the University of Denver.
"I actually like the name," he added. "Because I do care -- that's why we fought so hard to make it happen."
Later, in an appearance in Colorado Springs, Obama rapped Republican opponent Mitt Romney because "when it comes to health care, he wants to kill Obamacare -- I'm implementing Obamacare because it was the right thing to do."
The president and his aides once shunned the word "Obamacare," at a time when both the law and Obama were struggling politically.
They have maintained that the 2010 health care law would become more popular after its benefits became known; that belief may explain Obama's embrace of the term now.
Of course, Republicans -- whose opposition to the health care plan fueled their victories in the 2010 congressional elections -- don't figure to stop attacking "Obamacare" any time soon.
Either way, it seems likely that the new word "Obamacare" will enter the political lexicon of history.
