Well, I can see a little brown on the stem. It could be. I know next to nothing about most mushrooms especially Amanita.

Actually I think it might be a.pantherina... stem is white becoming tannish with age and has one, sometimes two "hoops" or concentric rings on the base....t.I.? And they look to be there at the base...hard to tell tho

As with so many Amanita species and psudospecies, one can not directly apply the description for Amanita pantherina to the North American material sharing that name.
The species, in all likelihood, does not occur here, and what we have, while similar, can not be expected to follow european rules.
With that said, this begins to meet the psudo - A. pantherina test. Can I presume the discoloration on the stipe is in actuality yellowish bruising?

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

This distinction (one of more than one) is that in the classical A. pantherina, which we don't have here, the stipe from the base will age brown or grey, but the flesh will not as desicribed bruise when injured.
Our pantherina like species will bruise yellow, even if like so many bruising mushrooms it does not do so with complete reliability.
These are two very different descriptions, as comes to make sense when one considers that they are actually not the same species.

There is not likely any A. pantherina in the United States. What is here, and goes by that name is almost close enough.

It's some kind of Amanita. It's almost the same thing as Amanita pantherina, and that's very nearly as close as you're likely to get.
