Well, I'm not sure which Amanita species grow on fictional spaceships from mass effect, but I'd call those Amanita muscaria var. guessowii in the eastern us.

Formosa is the European version of Guessowii.

Sure looks like a muscaria... caps so perfect they look fake  lol

They are missing the typical bracelets, some possibly indistinct?
They look like they have more of a roll-like volva ring... volvas have a collar/rim?
Are their any veils intact or are they all just remnants?
-Could just be an environmental variances?
Its hard to tell because I cant zoom in on the pictures.

I would almost like to say these are some European Version of Muscaria Var. Persicina?

They posses all the requisite structures; they are only somewhat worn from age and handling. Even with that, they are plainly visible.

Persicina or formosa if you ask me. I am leaning towards formosa because of the prominent yellowish orange color. Persicina tend to be a bit pinkish orange, but you might be right rev0kadavur, this very well could be some European persicina variety.

One thing is for sure, those are some really nice Amanita muscaria specimens no matter what variety they are! Nice find!

requisite structures for which?
Visually, they contain all the requisite structures (variations considered) for both Guessowii & Persicina.... The taxonomy features for the 2 are nearly identical.

(Formosa's) Guessowii's flesh is typically unchanged when cut or bruised, unless its old, then it can yellow.... Persicina's flesh is typically unchanged or yellow/brown/grey when cut or bruised... even in the younger specimens pictured they are exhibiting brown-yellow bruising to different degrees.... particularly mid-way and below... one of the younger ones looks heavily browned.

Persicina's veil often collapses onto its stipe, just like in the picture, unless thats from handling.

One way to have a better idea would be to see a cross-section of these caps w/stipe apex intact.... The Gill Structures can distinguish the 2, Short Gills are more common in Persicina that Guessowii.

For both.

Naturally, they are only slighty distinct.

This is a good point. It is entirely likely you are right.

Either way, these are really beautiful.. i have never seen any that are this shade of orange, consistently through the cap... I have been searching to find a comparable observation, but I have yet to find any colored quite like this... Persicina Observations come the closest.

Im from the midwest U.S, North west indiana/North east illinois to be specific. All were found under pine trees. Just got back from a hunt and literally got 50+lbs and barely made a dent in the amount growing, all are yellow to light/medium orange caps. I can post pics of the hunt, some are a bit crushed due to the weight of them in the bag.

My main concern is do these contain amatoxins? or are they the ibotenic acid/muscinol variety.

Also when picking this last amount I noticed the veil was collapsed and fall to the stipe if that helps any.

Im in CA, I have never personally seen persicina, I have just read a lot about Amanitas.

We have a variety of Muscarias here, but not Persicina that I am aware of.

Totally thought you were in Europe because of the Normandy Loc.
Ok, well that makes a difference... Kinda...
You are in Guessowii Territory, but there is a chance that Persicina is around your parts too.... Both are found under pine.

And its entirely possible that your encountering more than just one variety, maybe take pictures just because its interesting...  if you notice any particular differences between them, snap those...

I am curious to see a cross section of one of those orange ones!

Oh oops sorry I got confuseded. LOLOL. don't mind me.  Yeah that is probably reasonable to ID it as such, but would be more interested in seeing more mature, because the largest in this group is hugemongous and I would have hope to see it more maturely shaped.  What an enourmous Amanita that is!

Amatoxins are unlikely, unless they are a new Amanita!

You have Muscaria, regardless of Variation.

Likely Guessowii or even possibly Persicina.

Would love to see nice cross section and up-skirt pic

Pics from the hunt would be awesome to see too!
