Is that an active species? I'm new to hunting and found these on my first day out! I'm thinking its to good to be true to find actives so fast. And I am located in central Indiana, found these growing under a tree

Pine tree? And yes they are active but not "magic" no psilocybin or psilocin at all...totally different. I personally love them but a lot of people don't...do research if you would like to consume them...if nothing else, prepared the right way, they are an excellent culinary mushroom!!

Perhaps, if "active" means a deliriant/dissociative feeling that makes many people puke.  They are not what people consider "magic mushrooms".  That being said, some people still enjoy them.

Yes a pine tree, now I've read that you can grind them up and make a tea, would I only grind the cap or the cap and stem? And would I still need to dry it for this method?

Yes I know they are different than psilopsybin mushrooms, but I have read that if you prepare them right that they can produce visions, there are some very interesting reports on erowid. I am nervous about it because I've never prepared them before, and I have also heard of the negative effects. Can anyone who has had a good experience with them give me advice on the best ingestion method!

It is my understanding you want to dry them in an oven first.  You want to convert the ibotenic acid into muscimol before you grind or consume them.

If you want tea, put the caps on cardboard and dry them in front of a fan until cracker dry (no stems), grind the caps into a flour like consistency and put the desired amount in tea...you want to either heat them in the oven, on the top rack with the dor cracked open on the lowest heat for 10 or 15 mins...but don't burn them... I've skipped the oven step and I brew hot tea to 195° Fahrenheit and take it off the heat and put the powder in there. Stir every 5-10 mins and let it soak an half an hour...I've never thrown up before doing that but I never take more than 6-7 grams at a time! Good luck, hope that helped...here is another way to do it if you don't want the tea.... http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/18925908/gonew/1#UNREAD

Thanks! I took your advice and it went great. Definitely worked, my cousin and i both tried it and both had a good experience, he experienced more of the sweating and salivation than i did and didt care for that. To me it was just a great body buzz, would love to try it again alone so i could meditate.

Definitely Amanita muscaria var. guessowii I'd say

All the muscaria variants I've seen in person have shaggy folds in the stipes just like yours.
Were these in sandy soil by chance??
