Mycoremediation
    #18951266 - 10/08/13 07:20 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Hey not sure if this belongs here, but I couldn't think of a better spot.

I'm doing a short paper on mycoremediation and I was wondering if anybody on the shroomery had some informative links or resources.

Specifically I'm supposed to be giving a general overview of the process to people with science background but no specific mycology experience.  Thus I'd like to include some meaty details.

I've already found a few studies of pleurotus remediation and just discovered the book Mycoremediation by Harbhajan Singh, so I'm not completely at square one.

Any ideas from more experienced members would be appreciated, thanks.

You might search here using the 'search posts' link above.  Also, mycoremediation isn't a very good term, as it's not just about fungi.  A good remediation effort includes beneficial bacteria, organic material, and beneficial plants including numerous nitrogen fixing species. It will include soil stabilization, drainage ditches, water bars, etc., to control erosion. Fungi plays a role breaking down the organic matter you supply to help build soil, but it's not going to be the main mover in a true conservation program.  Search bioremediation as well for that reason.

I will be sure to make use of the search function (before I post next time), and thanks for the tips as well.  That actually helps a lot.
