Anyone have stop or slowed down their drinking due to psychedelics ? I feel like an Ayahuasca journey would help me in my struggle.

Of course I could reply " search engine " to half of the discussion here... I've read their benefits from studies but I wanted to read personal experiences from member of the shroomery.

I've never been a drinker, but I found Salvia gave me a strong aversion to alcohol and even drinkers
The Santo Daime organizer guy at the church, where I took Ayahuasca, said he quit smoking something like 25 years ago, with the help of Aya. So it does help with addictions for sure.
Native American Church people use their Peyote sweat lodge ceremony to help with heroin addiction and alcoholism.
On this LSD documentary, there was mention of the case of a Vienam vet, completely fucked by alcoholism. They gave him a good solid dose of acid, back when it was still legal, he stared at the floor for some hours, then the next day the attending shrink asked what happened. "God came to me, and he said JOE, NO MORE." Then the guy promptly cleaned up his act and became a minister, staying clean ever since.
I for one have never understood how people can have the awesome amazing experience of tripping, really properly tripping, and then even look at the boring filth which is alcohol, ever again. Just found it impossible to relate. Alcohol and drinkers to me are like crystal meth and street junkies to you. Just can't relate at all to that fucked up lifestyle, or (in the case of drinking) why someone would actively CHOOSE it, when they have far better alternatives.
I hope you clear your system OP, and also find fellow trippers to be together with. Tripping is > than drinking
Oh don't just rely on tripping, get healthier social relationships and activities, break it off gradually with heavy drinkers, and find alternatives to bars.

I was actually a raging alcoholic until just recently, and yes they can help. In fact it was the last mushroom trip I had that convinced me to do something about it, and they weren't very nice about it :P So hopefully they will reward me for my efforts next time lol.

I'm not an alcoholic, but whenever I do drink and eat mushrooms, I always quit drinking. I take one look at the bottle and question why I would even think about ingesting something so horrible. Happens everytime.

I've gotten drunk before and after consuming psychedelics. One time it made me really depressed and I had to go on a long long walk....
It's best not to unless your just tripping for ridiculous fun. A real psychedelic trip shouldn't contain alcohol and I have been influenced not to drink as much while on them, in a way that really truly makes me want to drink less not just because I think I should drink less.
Now that I'm away from the psychs I've been drinking more however in the country I'm currently in its legal whereas in the us it is not for me quite yet. However my drinking is casual and I have not yet even gotten truly hammered. This could have something to do with the tripz.

But OP, is there an actual plan of action to your question?
Aya is usually months/years away for most people, and it tends to get turned into a whole complicated thing, not something one just does with some mates next Tuesday. There's a lot to be said for the pilgrimage, the journey, but it's also not very immediate.
What are your psychedelic options this particular month or week, in order of accessibility?
I only have mild depression to deal with sometimes, not any addictions to speak of, so that's the only (partial) way in which I can relate. If I had a problem, and had 3 psychedelics available, I'd try all 3. This week shrooms, then after a while peyote, then after a while some acid. With ample time to process the experiences of course, you can't really plan it too exactly in advance.
Just remember that a shroom trip today is far more help than an Ayahuasca ceremony next year. Get your act together and take'em if you have'em.

Thanks for the replies
I feel like a ayahuasca session would benefit me greatly, face my demons etc

Yeah mate, it very likely can, that's not really the question. Question is can you get yourself to a proper ceremony?
It's one thing to feel like it would be nice to do it, and another to actually get packin' and get movin' and show up for it.
When/where are you planning to go exactly? Did you figure out any of the details?
