Anyone done this with success before? I'm wondering if 1 per tub would be sufficient or if I would need more than that. These are the ones I'm looking into http://m.ebay.com/itm/290959225128?cmd=VIDESC I understand the pros and cons between battery lights and wired lights and don't have the option to run wires so let's please keep this on topic and discuss the type of light that I linked

What is the point of light within the monotub? Ambient light should be enough for substrate colonization, and perhaps a 12/12 cycle with an external lamp would be better during fruiting.
Also, LEDs typically emit very narrow ranges of wavelength/color. Even white LEDs, which are "broad" spectrum would still be comprised of narrow ranges.
I imagine a CFL daylight bulb outside the monotub if ambient light is not sufficient.
(Not trying to derail your thread, if you're set on LED. Interested in your thoughts.)
EDIT: grammar/sentence structure

My friend has a basement we can use that doesn't have any windows or electricity and he isn't going to allow any extension cords/ generators or anything that will draw attention. He also has a bunch of opaque tubs that we can use so I figured for $1 per light and $1-2 per day on batteries(per tub)... Yeah it's expensive but still worth the benefits you would reap at the end. You don't even need light for colonization so even if you used the light for fruiting only, you'd spend like $25 at most by the time you got your first flush which for me is usually about 4-6 oz dry per tub.
I'm sure someone will chime in and recommend clear tubs and less lights or something. If we did that, not only would we have to buy all new tubs but we would need bigger lights for each stack of tubs which would in turn end up costing just as much money. I'm not trying to be thick headed but I really just want to make option A work if possible instead of switching tubs etc.

Lol how easy would it be to drill a hole in the wall, run an outlet down there, put some new drywall up and paint it.
