i hav a couple of Qs:
1-can calcium carbonate whether itd be limestone flour or oyster shell flour be used with an all coir substrate? or, is there a special strict recipe that calcium carbonate is to be used with?
2-and also can all the aforementioned be mixed along with calcium sulfate (gypsum)?
3-between calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate which one is more essential?

Calcium carbonate and oyster shell and the like are sometimes used in old casing layer recipes.
There is no real benefit to adding it to your substrate

What he said & terry M has all the info you need here. I learned everything about lime in 10min. I'm pretty sure he covers calcium carbonate. But I can't open the PDF right now on my phone for some reason. But its all good info anyways. Peace

Hey I couldn't figure out how to start a thread. But I just picked up some of this stuff. Theres a whole series of these products and I got the limestone and calcium, and also the gypsum in this brand. It has a promising picture on the front and I guess it was developed in Maui.
Anyways it supposedly had some kind of edible mushroom extract in it. Do you guys think this would be okay to use? If so it'd be awesome because my local store has all kinds of these from kelp, to castings, and nitrogen booster.
I would be stoked if they do!
