How to go about fruiting with tin tray

After doing some trolling on here for awhile I decided to put on my big boy pants stepped up to a bulk. Used monotub and had great success. But now I'm looking for a cheaper route to go down so I decided to use tin tray since they are 2 for a dollar and my mono is full at the moment.
The tin trays came with the typical clear tops. So I'm wondering if I can use those since I'll have about 5 inches clearance? (of course I'm hoping for bigger fruit then that but not counting on it) If I don't use the top that came with the tray how else could I go about fruiting these trays? All advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you ahead of time! Sorry for my grammar/run on sentences as I'm not the most educated individual.

You can use the but after time they'll rust. You haft to put a plastic liner in to protect the aluminum from being eaten by the mycelium.
I were you I'd buy 2, 6 qt plastic tubs for a dollar each. You wanna use a liner with these too(or any tub or try,to help prevent sidepins. Use the bottom tub as your tray. he other tub would be put ontop of the colonized substrate. You can use 6, .5" holes or you can measure every inch around the tub and make a shotgun shell fruiting lid. I like the mono style. You can find a A+ tek and the link in my sig. It's called "The Shoebox Tek" it takes a half a bucket of coir its really easy. Only takes 2 ate spawn. The plastic will last a lot longer than a aluminum try. The extra 50 cent is worth it to me. If they get contaminated, toss sub and wash with warm soap and water. Good as new. Good luck! the GT in my dp is in a 6 qt shoebox shotgun shell style(or hybrid style, whatever you wanna call it) I now use 34qt tubs the same way(mono style) and I prefer them over a mono tub any day. I get some pics up in a sec.

On the is the monotub, center is hybrid dubtub, right is my all time favorite 34 qt mono dubtub.

Take a look at the thread in my signature. Not saying that's what you should do but it gives you another option.

Thank you both for replying with great input and not flaming me!
x Civil x if I use your favorite the mono dub tub can I just place the tin tray inside it? I forgot to mention I already have the trays incubating. Or wonder I be better off with the hybrid tub for this round and switch to the mono dub next time?

Well I have two trays so I'm thinking one like you did as a big cake in SGFC and one in the tray in a monotub. Thanks for clearing up the misuse of words!
