B++ colonizing troubles
    #18949485 - 10/08/13 12:49 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

I am attempting to make b++ on Rye Seed.

Due to my boiler breaking down im finding hard to grow my mycellium. The airing cupboard is no longer at optimum incubation temp.

Im now wrapping the box containing 4 jars in a towel at the mo, covering it with a black bag and leaving it in the sun on sunny days.  There are signs of life and its about a 1/3 colonized in the most successful jar.

Usually it only takes a week but this has taken 3.  Im not in a rush as I have some Amazonian on their 4th flush and doing well.

The boiler gets fixed in a couple of weeks but I wondered what your views where on this.  Are there any time limits on colonization?  What can I do?

cubes colonize fine at room temp, there is no need to incubate unless its really cool where your are keeping them. and its sounds like you are restricting the GE by wrapping them up. just put em on a shelf inside, and they should do fine.

You may consider making a tub-in-tub incubator. Usually they're not recommended, but if your heat's broken you'll have to do something.

i recommend common sense and figuring it out.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.
