1st Cubensis grow - questions - need advice on light/pics

Hey all, first timer here. Thanks for the great community and educational resources!
Looking for some advice on the cakes I currently have fruiting. PF-Tek following along with clubbase's walkthrough here and RR's awesome videos.
For reference, I'm in the Pacific NW and it is damp and dark most of the time now.
I'm now 8 days into fruiting and wondering about my slow pin growth. Using a SGFC with a 3.5 inch layer of perlite. Should I add more perlite next time and how damp should I keep it? I drained it decently well after washing the dust off and added it to the FC. Didn't add more water until I noticed it was relatively dry yesterday. Slowly spread water around until it began to leak out the bottom holes.
I mist 3 times a day and am now doing it until I can see the water glisten on the verm. I fan 5 times a day or so. As a rough guess, how many full large bottle sprays should I be giving 6 cakes each time?
Once into the FC my 6 cakes continued growing mycelium outward and a few cakes have fairly sizable outgrowths. See attached.
One cake developed two clusters of pins at 6 days and they have been growing seemingly slowly. In researching, my best guess is that I don't have enough light or humidity due to not having the perlite sufficiently wet up until this point. I'm growing in what is essentially a basement with 2 windows that do not get a whole lot of light. Is it okay to use standard room lights or should I invest in a direct lighting rig?
Two final random questions:
My jars were significantly populated above the dry verm level all the way to the lid for all 6 cakes. I fear that I removed too much mycelium in clearing out the contam shield layer of verm. Should I just leave them alone next time and just rinse off what comes naturally without damaging the top mycelium?
In their current state, how long can fruiting cakes be left alone? I'm intending to travel this weekend and wondering if two full days would be too long to go without misting/fanning.
Thanks!

Those pins seem to be on schedule. The ones I grew formed and 2 days later looked like that. On day 3 they were only slightly bigger. 3 days after forming they just took off and doubled in size like every 12 hours. I suspect yours will be ready to pick in 2-3 more days. As for the other ones not fruiting I cannot say.

not all your cakes are gonna pin at the same time , could take up to 2 weeks for some to pin, but most IME will start pinning around the 7 day mark
if you hydrated the perlite by pouring water in your SGFC make sure you tilt it around 45 degree angle for a few minutes for the excess water to drain. I've heard is not a good thing to have standing water in your FC
for light get yourself a cfl bulb on the 6500k range(daylight) and a clamp light as sort of a reflector to direct the light at your FC, 12 hours on and off cycle
here's my set up so you have an idea

chances are on the next 7 days your cakes are gonna explode with pins hang in there and keep misting and fanning

That's normal. Sometimes the big push can take even two weeks if the cakes were not consolidated properly (I hope you left them completely colonized in their jars for at least a week!).

The cakes have to be slightly damp at all times. You only want a thick layer of perlite if you intend to leave the FC unattented for many hours so that you have a big "moisture bank" that the air can draw from over time.

Can't answer that - don't worry too much about the exact amounts. I mist about 4 times a day and lately have been using a little jar with two holes in its lid to pour a bit of water on the heap of verm on top of each cake (a small moisture bank for each cake). This works pretty well. If water drips from the bottom of the FC, or if there are puddles of water on the cakes, you are adding too much.

This usually happens when you put the cakes in the FC too early. They will be fine, but it is better to let them consolidate longer.

Light is absolutely crucial! Definitely invest in a direct rig. If the FC is on a table (as it should be - elevated, that is) then you can get one of those bendable "crane" lamps that have clamps that attach them to tables. About $14 at Ikea. One compact fluorescent above/beside the FC will do the trick.

Don't worry about that, mushrooms are strong. Next time remove the contam shield gently but it doesn't matter much.

More than 8 hours or so without misting will begin to adversely affect their performance. Especially if the pins are out already - they need to be in a moist atmostphere at all times. The perlite can provide moisture for 6-8 hours depending on how thick the layer is. After than you need to tend to them.
