4 Silk Road Users Arrested In UK With Millions Of Dollars In Bitcoins Seized
LONDON (AP) — U.K. authorities have made four arrests following last week's closure of the notorious black market website known as Silk Road, Britain's National Crime Agency said Tuesday, adding that millions of pounds (dollars) worth of electronic currency had been seized.
The agency said the bust happened within hours of the arrest in the United States of the alleged Silk Road administrator Ross Ulbricht, suggesting that authorities may now be targeting the network of drug dealers who made fortunes peddling illicit substances from the Internet bazaar.
The agency's director general Keith Bristow said in a statement that other users of the site would soon feel the heat.
"These latest arrests are just the start; there are many more to come," he said.
Few details of the suspects were released. The Crime Agency called them "significant users" of Silk Road and described them as three men in their 20s from the northern English city of Manchester and a man in his 50s from southwestern England.
Silk Road gained widespread notoriety two years ago as a black market bazaar where visitors could buy and sell hard drugs using bitcoins, an electronic currency independent of any centralized control. A so-called "hidden site," Silk Road used an online tool known as Tor to mask the location of its servers. While many other sites sell drugs more or less openly, Silk Road's sophistication, its user-friendly escrow system and its promise of near-total anonymity quickly made it among the best-known.
Officials say the black market website brokered more than $1 billion in sales before the FBI arrested Ulbricht at the San Francisco public library last week.
Britain's Crime Agency did not immediately return a message seeking comment on the suspects' whereabouts or how much electronic currency had been seized.
In its statement, the agency said the arrests sent a message to criminals that the anonymity touted by sites like Silk Road is an illusion.
"The hidden Internet isn't hidden and your anonymous activity isn't anonymous," it said. "We know where you are, what you are doing and we will catch you."

Well they can try, but any vendor with half a brain has already packed up, moved on, cashed out, relocated, and prepared for the next chance to keep on sharing the love. Screw the pigs, I hope they don't even make a dent in the amount of revenue generated on that, or other sites.

True, the system is our enemy it seems
share the love, screw the pigs :-)
even when the system "tries to help us" or make it seem so, it is still our enemy
I don't accept a system that has no acceptance or tolerance
good to know, I'm sure most silkroad users have hidden/used their stuff now, good luck piggies
the system must die, luckily I know plenty of people screwing it right now in many sorts of ways because it screwed them first but the good thing is... they keep screwing It soon I will start too likely, have gotten screwed a few times too lately by 'It'

I assume they're going after people they were able to backtrace where the package came from in undercover buys. The guy in Washington selling heroin they busted for instance was using his own PO Box and fake name as a return address and sent packages through express mail. It's likely these guys did something stupid like that too. I never even logged on SR when it was up but I thought I had read somewhere sensitive data like addresses were coded to be automatically encrypted.

They didn't catch me... there is no trail and all the drugs got pumped into my veins long ago.
Good luck finding people using fake names, false addresses, other people's computers or public wifi and anonymous currency.. All bark and very little bite.
Yeah that is a challenge, piggies, come get me, fuckheads.

Yup...
if you forgot GPG/PGP and bought 50+,100+ items of a drug, you can expect them anytime soon likely
hide your stuff, invite the pigs for coffee, be nice to them
mentally reprogram their subconsciousness if you act their way, they will keep being like this and it will only negatively affect your mind, so be nice
would like to hear if unencrypted orders were encrypted, where did you get that info?

All the trippy treats that came my way are long since consumed, and my piss is probably getting pretty close to clean again. I'd be glad to offer the little oinkers a cup of joe and a donut for their trouble if they come squealing around my door. It always pays to be a gracious host, especially when you're one step ahead and have not thing one to hide.

They'll go after the vendors and more than likely just give customers they can identify a letter saying it's illegal to import controlled substances into the United States. The marketplaces before it that went down, that's what they did and they weren't even close to the size of SR. (2000 customers vs. 100,000 customers)

In one of the other articles here on Shroomery, someone said this. But never been on SR so don't know for an actual fact.

Do you? How many millions of culprits are there? How many did you catch? What about Atlantis: How many of their users did you catch? Oh, none? Why is that? Don't you know where they are, who they are, what they are doing, etc? You had one site's database delivered to you in a bust. You did not have the technical capabilities to otherwise identify those users. You probably can't even use Linux, or know what it is.

You know it just occurred to me (and it probably has already occurred to you who are smarter than me already) but isn't it strange how Atlantis shut itself down due to "security reasons" just a couple of weeks before SR was shut down by the FEDs
