Total noob question

Not even really sure how to phrase my question even.
I guess I am asking for recommendations on a tek for a first timer. A monobucket would be the ultimate goal but I have read that its good to start with a tradition PF tek BRF cake in a SGFC. It sort of just seems like a waste if it's only going to be utilized once or twice.
Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

No reason you can't spawn a monotub with cakes

The buckets were appealing because if one is contaminated it's not such a loss being that I'm a noob and all. Though hopefully contamination should not be a problem. I've been doing my homework on how to avoid it.
Do you mean using BRF cakes instead of rye?

Make up 12 pf tek jars and let them colonize. Once they are fully colonized, fruit some in a sgfc and then make a bucket. Best of both worlds, and also solves the issue of putting all your eggs in one basket

Did you use 50/50 coir/verm for substrate in your buckets?
I guess I was really asking if you would recommend buckets for a first time attempt. I was trying to avoid having to construct a SGFC as my ultimate goal was bucketing. I was more so talking about doing a few buckets instead of one 66 quart tub with having all my eggs in one basket.

I would recommend that then
And no one does 50/50 coir verm. Its more like 80/20 coir Vern. 1 brick of coir to 3 qrts of verm

I suggest using the pf tek first. It'll teach you a lot and give you a better shot at bulk. However I did start with bulk.
If you want to go bulk you are going to want to use qt's of wbs. I suggest the shoebox tek if you wanna try bulk. You can find it at the link in my sig. I'm on my phone so its a pain the get a link. But you can google it too. "the shoebox tek" Highly recommended for a first timer. Has all the info you need in thread. Peace.

Thanks everyone, I will check out the links and do some more reading. Your guide is what really sparked my interest in the buckets by the way Blake
