Yup. Wade basically ran the point while still playing at the 2 on halfcourt plays. It worked for us back then because we had Mourning and Shaq for 06.

I really like the twin PG line up the Spurs ran to go on scoring surges because they would both assist anyone driving into the lane. Opened it right up since Bosh was invisible.

I see more teams starting to play twin PG's and 1 big in the future.

I loved how a lot of the time they really didn't have the spurs big 3 on the floor at the same time. Was 2 at most and that's all you really need when you got guys playing like they did.

It could be.

Man...talking about the wildcat brings up some really fond memories from being at Dolphin stadium watching my team here beat the shit out of the Patriots with that. I don't remember if it was a Sunday night or Monday night game, but I'm sure you know what game I'm talking about.

It could be a trend line up as far as basketball goes, but I think it makes sense in the NBA because of all these speed oriented teams now. We shall see.

Ginobili always has come of the bench. He is their wildcard and spark player. Thats why you calling them the big 3 keeps throwing me off.

If by wildcat you mean gimmicky, i absolutely agree.

When all is said and done the game is won in the paint.  I don’t know what happened the big dominate Centers and PF’s of old, but they will be back. Its true everyone can shoot now, but not everyone can post up. Thats why i loved guys Big Al, and Millsap. Post up and take it to em.

I think Millsap deserves a ring, i hope he finds his way onto a championship team. That kind of hustle and heart he has is almost unheard of in todays NBA.

Oh I was pretty sure he always started. I was surprised this year. But I'm probably wrong I have terrible memory.

I consider them the big 3 because ginobli, parker, and duncan have been a staple for that team forever.

Nope, he always comes of the bench.

No one ever said big 3 until LBJ and bosh went to MIA.

There was the boston three party?

Ya they had a big 3 as well. Didn't realize the heat coined the phrase. Seems like a big 3 in basketball has been around a while.

It hasn’t though.

Big 3 specifically refers to Lebron Wade and Bosh. Every team has 3 main players

The phrase "big 3" was coined when MIA brought LBJ and Bosh here.

Many teams in the past have had "big 3's" but they were never referred as that because the 3rd of the big 3 came off the bench. Thus being the "6th man"

You look at basically every championship team since 1985 and they had 2 outstanding starters which is why they won. The most prominent being obviously Jordan, Pippen, Rodman.

The Pistons teams with Isaiah Thomas and Rodman were the first big 3 team if you want to even call them that..I rather not, and don't like that term applied to other teams.

Im with you kr0n. It specifically refers to those guys and a period of time that will never happen again.

Shit the jazz had a “big three” Malone, Stockton and Horny.

Granted its a pretty unimaginative nickname but its still theirs.

No worries man.

It's just now become so synonymous with teams that had/have 3 great players.

After LBJ came here, the Celtics where the 2nd team to be coined as having a big 3. Pierce, KD, and Ray Ray....

PHRASING....BOOM! (Archer reference)

Ya it seems like big 3 is just synonymous with basketball. Seems like it's how it's always been. You can only afford so many big names and the rest is filler your coaching to be better.

Elax, what I meant by phrasing was that the Celtics started being referred to as the big 3 after Miami did the whole big 3 thing.

We're on the same page here. I agree with you.

Uh Oh. Joel Embiid...foot injuries, more stress fractures, and upcoming surgery before the draft even happens.

Looks like the only true Center of the draft might end up as another Greg Oden.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2095776-2014-nba-mock-draft-projecting-every-pick-of-round-1-post-nba-finals/page/2

This mock draft has got Nappier going to the Heat at #26. That would be fucking awesome. Just what we need.

----------------

Also Golden State as of this morning is in talks with the Wolves to trade David Lee and Klay Thompson for KLove. Shit is about to get real for the Warriors if this goes through.

Odom or Oden?

I'm guessing Oden since you were responding to me. No doubt he was a beast when healthy.
I was excited when the Heat signed him for this past season. I still don't know why Spo didn't play him more often.
