I predict if the Cavs win this series LeBron will retire and then come out of retirement in 1 or 2 years and play for either the Lakers or the Knicks.

Why do you think he would retire if he won another ring? Just a "already accomplished what he set out to" kind of thing?
I personally think he's going for the GOAT accomplishments so no retirement from the NBA until his mid-late 30's. I do agree that if he were to switch teams in the next couple seasons it would be to a big market team like LA or NY though.

Nahhh. He is still the most dominant player in the NBA playing for his legacy at this point. He isn't done yet.

He knows people like me will talk that he couldn't get one in Cleveland shit. If he gets this one there ain't nothin left. People who will still take Jordan over him if he wins this one just don't get what it will be that he's done. Like I said before, if he wins this series Jordan is just going to have to move the fuck over because this is next level shit. Don't even talk to me about 6 rings and all that. If Lebron pulls this off... I don't see why people don't get this. It's the most astonishing sports achievement of our lifetimes.
Why retire? He's fucking tired, man. The dude has had the world on his shoulders for like a fucking decade. Even in high school he was carrying it around.

You know, it's very feasible that he would take a couple years off. I completely see where your coming from with what your statement but I think his passion for playing the game overrides him being tired.

Yeah theres no way he's gonna retire if he wins. Especially since he'll have a healthy roster to start next year.

What athlete has taken a couple years off and come back just as good as they were before?

I personally don't think he came back as good I think taking time off as an athlete is a terrible idea.

I was thinking about that while making my previous post. I definitely wouldn't expect him to be better than he is now which is why I don't see him retiring anytime soon.
But if he were to take a couple years off he would come back still a fantastic player, but not the best anymore and I don't know if he would even care. If he came back after a break I'm sure it would be just to keep fulfilling his passion for playing.

I wasn't old enough to understand basketball for his first 3 rings. Only his last 3. I'm pretty sure most people in this thread weren't even old enough to be around for his last 3 so it's almost impossible to make a fair comparison to LBJ.
From documentaries, highlights, etc..I do think that he came back as a more refined player with a bit less stamina. That's all I can really say on the subject without overstepping my basketball knowledge.

okay a small handful have come back just as good, I don't find those very good odds lebron would take. I say there is no chance he retires next season (I don't know the guy so all I can say is my opinion)

Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Iverson all took breaks.
Did any of them really come back better, though? I know for a fact AI didn't, it's hard for me to say with Jordan, and there's no way for me to say with Magic.

Jordan. I started watching the NBA the last year of his first 3-peat before he stepped away to play baseball.
I think he maintained his athleticism, while improving his leadership ability. His first full season back the Bulls went 72-10 , the best record in NBA history.

I remember that and him saying every time he got in front of a mic, "If we don't get the ring, it don't mean a thing." He even had it printed on his hat. I wish someone told the Hawks that this year. Fuck the regular season!
