can sodium hydroxide in tap water effect shroom tea
    #18946231 - 10/07/13 06:52 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

I've been reading a lot about making tea lately, I've been concerned about chlorine in water effecting shroom tea but I learned when the water boils the chlorine is evaporated off super quick. Then I read my town adds small amounts of sodium hydroxide  to my water. I don't believe you can get rid of it  easily so do you think it would effect the actives in any way? I've used my tap water before and it worked fine but I'm curious, I heard this sodium hydroxide is strong shit in its pure form.
Is there any reason to believe bottled or distilled water might be slightly better to use for shroom tea because of the sodium hydroxide?I wouldnt mind using it, distilled water is very cheap at family dollar.

You could always head down to your local shop and buy some spring water

I doubt the amount added to your would be a dangerous quantity.

You must have slightly acidic water
So they are just balancing out the pH

I.e., by the time the water gets to you... No  NaOH would be there

Ok thanks guys yea I figured everything was fine because I made a two gram tea of some hawaiian cubes with my tap water and a tablespoon of lemon juice, definite wavy visuals and intense euphoria for about 4 and a half hours and I then I got sober pretty quickly it was pretty cool and sparked my interest in tea. For only two grams it was fuckin awesome
