Quick question on spore print

About 8 months ago I made a bunch of spore prints of GT and PB and used all prints but 2. I totally forgot about those 2 prints till I found them today in my hiding spot, they were made on wax paper and I lazily just placed another piece of wax paper on top of it to store for a short period of time ( NOT 8 MONTHS LOL) My question is do you guys think they are still good or should I just chuck em? I would imagine they could be covered in contaminates, If I wanted to find out for the hell of it what would be my best route here? LC? Thanks ahead of time

There probably contaminated, you should just put them on pda too see if they're contaminated and if they are just try to isolate uncontaminated myciulm sections and place it on other pda and do the same process over and over again until there full uncontaminated.
Or if you're too lazy then send them to me, I'll gladly do it

They will be viable but covered in contams most likely. You'll have to put them on agar and transfer away from contams. This is going to be your only sure shot to get a clean culture from your prints. Agar is not that hard to work with and can be done in a still air box

You could easily go the agar route. If you don't have pteri dishes you can use jars with modified lids. PDA is in reference to agar btw PDA=potato dextrose agar

I use dog food agar there are many different types of agar that work great. Just do some research using the search function

That would be a bad route. The contaminates will have a joy ride in the high nutrient solution. Like everyone else said you'll have to use agar to get it to grow out in 2D so you can isolate a good culture.

Thanks for the quick replys, I think I'm gonna buy some petri dishes and isolate clean sections. It will give me something to do while I await an order from the SD. Practice makes perfect right?

Sure does. Don't get disappointed and rage-quit if you suck at pouring petris the first few times. I really suck at doing it still . I wish no pour jars didn't suck so much. Also, glass petri dishes are a hassle to handle.
