B+ cakes Fuzz and Bruising?

I have had these cakes in my sg terrarium for almost 6 days. No pins yet but I am concerned about the color and white fuzziness of the cakes. Is this a sign of low humidity? I tried putting a humidifier in the room and even used an oscilating fan facing the wall to create air flow. What do you guys think of these pics?

The fan is not necessary. Is the sgfc elevated so that air can come up from under it?

It was not for the first couple days but I have it elevated on a couple bricks now.

The fan might end up drying out your cakes. The room should have air flow in it without a fan. The cakes don't look bad though, in a few days you might see some pins. How often do you mist and fan?

I have been doing a fair amount of both. I know from reading these boards how important fae is to pinning. Probably every couple hours during the day.

Your cakes don't look bad at all. You seem to be on the right track.

Thanks, not trying to be impatient just unsure about my humidity.

As long as you made the sgfc to spec and have it elevated off the ground so air can come up from underneath, you should be fine. Where are you keeping the sgfc?

the fan screws up your humidity because it upsets the natural currents you want in your room. Your moisture comes from the air drawn up from the bottom of your sgfc that goes through the wet perlite and gives a nice environment in the chamber.
There is no need to fan if you don't mist. FAE does not come from fanning. Mist only when they look dry, and mist lightly until they glisten. Fan after misting.
I have faith in this, good luck!

In a sgfc? There should not be a reason to fan out the air as long as the sgfc maintains a steady airflow itself. Only after misting, when there's moisture that needs to evaporate, should there be a reason to "flush out" the humid air and replace it with "drier" air that can suck up moisture from the misted cakes.
This is how I've been thinking and doing. If I'm wrong, nothing would please me more than to be enlightened!

the natural airflow is more for your perlite then air exchange, they don't like stail air and i can go hours without needing to mist which is too long for my likeing to go without fanning, but a sgfc can indeed work wonders on a 14 hour unattended day

One of those cakes looks suspicious to me. Keep a close watch on that "bruising" that it doesn't end up being trich.

But just seconds after you stop fanning and put the lid back on, wont the air just settle again? My comprehension regarding FAE was that it is the steady exchange of the air in the chamber, as much as 3-6 times/hr. Fanning out the air sounds more like a quick-fix, and that it has minor to zero effect on the mushrooms.
Good to see you're checking in at least once in a while again, I weighted your words heavily when I started reading here!
I'm not trying to state that you are wrong and I'm right, as much as hoping to be convinced why I'm wrong

I thought fully colonized cakes were pretty resilent to contams.

Also, mist the perlite as well. You want to keep that wet too if you've been having a fan drying it out.

They are...but the green monster has a knack for showing up when you least expect it. Also..early stages of trich look much like normal mycelium to the untrained eye, and that bruising to me looks a little off. The texture of the mycelium there looks almost dusty...it could be lighting..i'm not calling it trich...just saying keep a good watch on it. If it's trich you will know quick.

OP, back when I did cakes, mine would bruise a bit too. They still worked perfectly, though

Yeah, I've had plenty of bruised cakes and plenty of triched out cakes and I'm saying keep an eye on that one.

Though if it WAS trich...between the time of the OP...it would be green by now...
