MY FIRST POSTHello Shroomery users! I am making this post to say hi, and let the community know that I am active in surfing the boards and growing some mushrooms! (Oct 6 2013) I have had so many questions I have wanted to post! You guys really aren't joking that every question has usually been answered. (So thankful for the info on this site! Talk about standing on the shoulders of giants!) Some background on me: I'm a 30 y/o dude, married, living in rural America. I am from Seattle, and I spend most free time with philosophy, sociology, and religious debate/study. Stamets called me out as a soldier, and I credit my participation in cultivation to him. I owe a lot to RR, and I appreciate his scientific approach, and his dedication to spreading knowledge of applied science. Love to hear how others do stuff also. I have been in the shadows on this site for a long time. I am making a play to grow mushrooms for a living. I've invested about $1400 in grow equipment and supplies. After 5 years of desiring these toys, I am fruiting an oyster patch, and attempting cloning on agar tomorrow. I picked up a couple bails of organic straw from a local farm, and I'm excited to keep my grow as local as possible. I've had to tell many people that I am not growing the magical types, and that my interests are in gourmet edibles. The only mushrooms available in local stores are Portabella and White Button. Anyone who hears I am ramping up Pearl Oyster production is excited to have the option. I hope my yields and sales are helpful to my remote community. This is my first post, and I look forward to sharing my media with you all! I've got an iPad, and I produce video content. Thanks for checking out my first post, and I look forward to sharing my experiences. Take care!

I certainly do not take any offense to being suspected of being a cop. I do have thoughts on this topic though. It's 2013, I highly doubt that law enforcement needs to "befriend" people on message boards to collect evidence of illegal activities. I live my life assuming that every keystroke entered onto a computer is logged and perhaps reviewed.
I did learn from the "getting started" rules/guidelines that calling people out as police was seen as harassment here. No worries from me!
Oh, I'm not a cop, spy, or mall security. I am a dude living in the sticks and trying to produce something for my community.

Red Lodge is the small town where I live. I gave my farm project the nick name RLC because no one asked me to come here, or to start farming. I'm kinda crashing into the market and spreading information on science and local food. I'm kind of a foodie. The documentaries Food Inc and King Corn really changed my life.
I am the "other" here, because I come from a very progressive city (Seattle) and my ideas on philosophy, society, and life are some-what counter culture for this conservative area.
I'm big on individualism and questioning base assumptions for "what we are all doing here", so I crash into a lot of mid-USA philosophies, and opinions. One thing that is commonly understood out here, is that we are all in this together! Community is so important!

Many of my friends have loved ones who have died in car/motorcycle accidents. It really sucks when tragedy hits.

I stoked to be here! I've been studying and researching for years... Now it's game time! Just fanning and misting these last couple days (sgfc), but cloning and creating MC is starting tomorrow!

Welcome! You seem like an intelligent and respectful member already. Just the fact that you read the rules before posting says something. I'd venture a guess that not many people do that.

Hey! Sweet Nietzsche quote in your signature! I've been online since the early 90s BBS, and I'm actually terrified of moderators. There have been times in my life where I've been enjoying discussion on boards only to get Ban Hammered! Those experiences always left me feeling wounded and shamed.. LOL, seriously! I try very hard project myself positively in the online world.
The guidelines and rules on Shroomery are great. I feel they enhance community and produce efficient board mechanics.
My main objectives for existing on this site are to display my efforts in mushroom cultivation, get advice on maximizing yields, advocate "proper" sterile techniques (I'm pretty obsessed with microbiology!), and have fun!
Right now I am compiling a lot of content from my grow, and searching out information from the huge data bank of trial and errors of past cultivators!
Thanks for saying hi! Looking forward to some happy growing!

Thanks man, but I have no illegal activities to discuss! I'm well aware that some folks here post anon with their grows, for obvious reasons. But I'm too pretty to remain anon. Seriously though, a huge potential exists for upward mobility, and if I can summon the courage to dive in, and if I'm successful, I want to be able to share that with as many people as I can. Newspapers, tv, local foodie meetups, educational outreaches... I've only got one hurdle left, applying the science and producing results! I've been successful in lab science at University, so I expect positive results!
On a separate note, IP addresses and NSA wiretaps are a reality in our world now, so I don't really even see the point in trying to be anon. We should all be proud of who we are and what we do! (or rethink some things)

Hi sVs, I supported and helped build the political machine that legalized marijuana in Washington State. I'm very proud of my involvement! In a land where you can buy a gallon of tequila on Sunday morning, there is no reason to have marijuana users jailed for nonviolent "crimes."

I stay away from spirits, but I do enjoy a hoppy ale! Had a couple great ones last night. Say is that Jeremiah Johnson? He is somewhat of a local hero out here! I pass by the Crazy Mountains fairly regularly!

What kind of hoppy ales are we talking? Answer carefully, your future depends on this question. I already knocked off points for the comment about spirits.

Hometown brewery, local hops, made with solar power? yeah, this stuff is awesome for so many reasons! I got to sample a couple liters last night! Of course, I had to drink tons of water today! lol
