Sterility - important when fruiting?

Hey guys and gals,
I've been reading up on mushroom growing lately, but I have one question that is left unanswered. I was planning to "copy" the casing method used in the famous dutch "just add water"-grow kits. - I dont know if I am allowed to name them, but I am sure you know what I am talking about.
Bottom layer - Perlite Middle layer - Fully colonized rye seed Top layer - Vermiculite
I would put it in a square aquarium or similar. My question is: Would I need a filter for the fresh air exchange? I saw pictures of mushrooms fruiting without a lid, which should mean a high risk of contamination. That is unless the mycelium is pretty much immune to contamination after it has fully colonized the rye substrate?
Also, these kits use some kind of passive filter for air exchange. Anyone know they are called?
Peace

Fruiting is not a sterile process. Fully colonized substrate is contam resistant since it already has a complete hold on the sub

Thank you for the quick reply Guess a PC-size fan connected to a timer should do the trick.
I will be back with a grow log when I start.
Thanks again.

May I suggest some reading here before you try such a horrible method. There's far better and more efficient ways of growing. Good luck and welcome to your new hobby! RR

I predict you will be back with a "what did I do wrong" log.
Research SGFC and monotub. The SGFC will be the least financial investment because you can do it without a pressure cooker.
There are other methods, but these are the most popular on this forum and you will be able to get a lot more help.

Then why do I keep getting trich at the beginning of my 3rd flush in every tub? Please dont say because I dont pasteurize right or my spawn was contaminated because if that were the case I seriously doubt I would get two healthy flushes every time.

Ive gotten up to 6 flushes before and until recently always got at least 4. Even then there were no contams, just ended up throwing them out because the flushes were getting too small to justify using up the tubs.

What is your point? Contamination resistant doesn't mean it is contamination proof.

Every substrate will eventually contam. Some earlier than others. The mycelium gets worn out (I don't know the correct term) and can no longer maintain its complete hold on the substrate
If this is not right or I worded it wrong someone please correct me
