How do my Pinks look?
    #18938254 - 10/05/13 10:36 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

This is my first time growing pinks and was wondering how they look to you more experienced shroomers out there.

eh, i don't really like it when mine get those brown edges, but they look like fatty clusters which is nice.  maybe they'll lose them as they grow, i don't really remember.  lookin good overall though, i've been getting 3 flushes so far.  no dunks, they just keep poppin' out, even logs with shit spawn that are trich'd out.

The rough caps seem a bit odd to me.  I haven't seen that before.

I'm trying to remember what I thought caused it... IIRC, it was the ones I grew outside that got the brown more, severely.  Indoors were perfect pink, when I'd throw 'em outside they'd get all brown like that.  I thought it to be lower humidity but IDK

How's your humidity doing in there?

edit:  I think it does dissipate some as they mature...

how does that smell?  i don't believe I would sell that for fear of sickening someone.  i encourage chefs to put baby pinks on salads cause they're delicious, and not astringent like other oysters.

They smell fine why would they make some one sick? Did I let them get to big?

Not really pink, but they look good to eat.

Also oyster mushrooms should not be eaten raw but cooked as they contain carcinogens that are heat-sensitive(cooking eliminates them.)  Without cooking, the nutriments are left undigested because mushrooms have cells walls that are tough for our stomachs to digest raw.
