Hearkening back to what RG said, I just found this article on Flavorwire, "Why Is No One Talking About the Fact That Chris Brown Was Raped?," that I think illustrates exactly what he's saying. The article answers that question concisely: no one cares that Brown was victimized because he did some horrible things & he is in a vulnerable, easily targeted demographic. I think it's because people look for outlets into which they can funnel negative emotions, and celebrities are easy outlets.
It is MUCH more difficult to understand the interplay of light/shadow qualities in the human psyche than it is to stay superficial and demonize a human than to help him.

Really liking your posts P_T. Completely agree.

Look around you. This is what social progress looks like at this point in time.
I don't think we are capable of more social progress than we have currently achieved.
Evolution has left us with the ability to imagine ideal communities, but we lack the faculties to achieve said ideals. I think this is largely due to the fact that our power to imagine is limited in its scope. I would even say that we willfully limit the scope of our imagination when it results in ideas that feel good.

But prohibition does not eliminate drug use. That's the entire problem with it. It's expensive and completely ineffective.

It would look like a war or a revolution towards massive change.

I disagree, if we take the civil war for example, it led to massive change and social progress.
So would you say there is no such thing as social progress?

That is why I said "the elimination of drug use" and not "prohibition". You can benefit society by eliminating your drug use. I am usually very particular with my phrasing and for good reason.

There may be some cases where war results in some progress but that can all be reversed down the road as has happened usually. My point is that humans are still going to be humans and any progress would be slow due to the fact that we haven't changed emotionally as a species much. If we had we would have probably done away with most warfare. But no I'm not saying there is no social progress at all.
