Someday, I hope.
Stanhopes on tour now too Was on stage for 2 hours, about half was arguing with the audience
Pretty sure he's only playing small towns; I had to drive about 100 miles. He called it his "shit cities" tour.

Not really. Stand-up, just like art in general has seem to have gone in a "Family Guy" phase. A lot of these upandcoming comedians seem to have it in their "howtobeacomedian" handbook that the more random you are the funnier you will be. I think that one Tim and Eric episode hit the spot when they did the Jim and Derrick parody.
Oddly enough, I'd put Nick Swardson in that category of "random comedian", but I still laugh at his bullshit. Some comedians can pull it off. Others, more than often, end of being mediocre.

Was a dream come true man. My first comedy show is a huge part of me growing up and my favorite comedian that straight disappeared. Was surreal man so great.

Completely disagree, most all comedians mentioned in this thread are in no way part of the random/family guy phenomena. They all look at situations from different than usual perspectives, which is why they are teachers teaching us to think differently.
Tim and Eric are completely random, though. Not sure if that was a joke..?

*New comedians
Most of the comedians mentioned in this thread have been in the game for at least 10-15+ years.
Tim and Eric is anti-humor, and to me, a bit dystopian.
Dane Cook is random.

I remember listening to dane's first album in 9th grade during quiet reading time. Me and my friend would crack the fuck up constantly. His first was pure gold after that it was kind of shitty. Think the fame got to his head. Pretty sad considering he was funny as fuck.

I had similar experiences. I was a sophomore or a junior when his first album came out. It was funny.
Dane Cook actually rose up with a lot of Boston comedians I love, including Patrice O'Neal. His style just gets old. It got predictable after the second album.

Kevin Smith is very funny, his stand up is more like telling stories, but they're funny.
Sarah Silverman can be funny.
Katt Williams is good.
Nick Swardson is good, but different.

Just like rashes can be fun to scratch at times.
Women are not funny and they can't play video games, either.
Maria Bamford made me chuckle once, but in the same way you laugh while popping bubble wrap.

I dont even think it was that. I think he stopped writing what made him famous because he got complacent. His first album was comedy gold I was dissapointed there after.

Konichiwaffle said: PS. I would have mentioned Carlin, but he has always been more of a teacher than an actual comedian in my book.
Hicks and Carlin had the same goal; to wake people up. I just thought Hicks did it in a much more comedic fashion. As Carlin got older, it was almost more like attending a seminar than an actual comedy show, which was still alright in my book.
He's the only comedian that I've enjoyed going off on long, humorless tirades. And I don't mind it because he always had something insightful to say.
