Any lights that could go in a lamp fixture and not give out so much heat?
    #18935962 - 10/05/13 12:50 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

My rooms pretty small and with one window it is very dark in some corners, so I put a lamp up over there in a shelf space

It gives off a lot of heat and I can't just open the window in the winter

Yes, a 13 watt light will not give off much heat at all.

I have one that's white for a table top but apparently red has a lower color temp.

Picking one up monday:yesnod:

Not sure if you knew this but color temp does not correlate to the heat produced by the light at all, it's just a reference for describing the color spectrum.

Examples for those that don't know but want to:

"Warm White" has more red.
"Cool White" has more blue.
"Natural White" is more commonly referred to as "Neutral White".

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

Any LED bulb will give tons of light with no heat at a 5500-6500k color temp which is daylight (white/lightblue)

Yes, it's a reference based on the color spectrum emitted by a black body at that temperature in Kelvin. A light source with that color spectrum does not necessarily need to reach that temperature in order to approximate that color balance though.

Went to the depot.

4 reg CFL with 70% less heat and a whiter light for 5 bucks and a orange one for 4.50

I was so happy for the orange, I'd go back and buy a nice blue and put it behind the t.v. if I had something to put back there...
