My WBS, quest......pt.1

Ok I have some simple questions about WBS, I went shoping and got a bag of FINCH seed , from the pet store , and got a bag of pure millet form the organic store
I wanted FINCH seed with nothing extra , that would hurt fungus , and I see some things are added and "I THINK", they may be fine , because there is also a part that shows the vitamins levels and the added things may be just for that and not to hurt fungus
so heres what I ask of the WISE here
is this ok
Ingredients: yellow finch millet, redfinch millet, RED millet, canary grass seed, white millet, rape seed, niger seed, calcium carbonate, orange oil, vitamin a ,vitamin d3, vitamin e ,manganous oxide, zinc oxide , ferous carbonate , copper sulphate, sodium selenite, calcium iodate
well??????
the PURE organic millet was one dollar more and I got more than the bird seed
I was thinking or mixing the 2 and trying some of each on their own good idea?
or if I can get a nice supply of pure millet , wouldnt it be better to stick with just PURE millet??????
and is the fince seed I got any good???? bird seed or pure whats better

And while we're at it.. where do you find pure millet? You said the "organic" store, but could you be more specific? I searched my local Wal-Mart, PetSmart, and Lowe's today, and couldn't find millet anywhere. I found TONS of mixed and bird-specific mixtures, but couldn't find millet. Any help?

the millet sold at the health food store works pretty good but it's hulled or the brands ive seen were (arrowhead mills brand) it sticks together gets pretty clumpy and hard to shake the finch food may have bird kote on it so you may want to rinse it first my favorite is hartz brand parakeet food in the clear and green bag sold at walmart it is mostly white millet more so than wbs and has no bird kote

I think millet is to hard to keep wet in large projects like with homemade myco-bags but if your doing jars its not so hard.

zinc oxide is used for water block in sun screen . copper sulphate is used to treat algae in fish tanks, and as dormant spray for fruit trees . i would rinse that seed, as best you can . maybe even, boil and rinse .

I think I am just going to get different seed
the one I got was only 5 dollars, I will look for better seed, in the mean time I will try a pure millet run, that is when I get my new PC tomorrow
I wish I could find a FAT bag of bird seed that was not to expensive and was mainly millet

At wallmart they have a 25 pound bag of killer seed for only 5 bucks. My friend only uses that stuff with great succes. If you want I will go ask him for the name of it.

I have a couple of related questions....I purchased 50lbs of millet from a feed store, and I dont know if it is hulled or not. I am not familiar with millet...My questions are:
1. How can i tell the difference between hulled and non hulled millet?
2. Will hulled millet work? What are its disadvantages.

I would think non hulled would not let water in. So the hulled would be better.

i want to second uneasyone, the parakeet seed you can get at wal-monopoly is top notch. it is almost pure millet and i have seen great results with it.
i think some was made into flour by someone once and used like brf in cakes. LY's just love it, best fruits i have ever had on cakes.

hulled millet gets sticky and clumpy when cooked it's just hard to shake but works well but if you baught it at the feed store it's probally not hulled you may want to wash it first incase it's been treated with fungicide though
