Let's not forget the rules here.

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7399068

Quote:

  • Poaching and theft of plants is illegal. Anyone who shows intent to do so or admits to taking plants from the wild, from a private property or public property without permission will be banned from the Ethnobotanical Garden Forum temporarily, if not permanently.

  • Trades and "hookups" are not allowed here

So by all means discuss the plants, but talk of theft or trading will not be tolerated.

Beautiful trichocereus cactus cluster:yesnod:

...try to ask permission to take cutting from the cactus even I see someone has been cut one column from picture #1

Possible property owner or something?

..I don't know this picture is possible taken from states and there are different rules than in my country, in my country everything in the wild are no-ones property and people can walk everywhere and use nature for camping, pick berries, fishing and trekking.. If it's possible in my climate this kind of cluster of cactus are growing and area is remote enough, there are no need permissions to ask rules.

Only serious thing is big trees are not allowed to fall down or cut.. But small seedling trees can be picked from nature and take to own property, it's property of nature. Only big trees what can benefit money or wood for warming the house are illegal to obtain without permission.

Don't steal or take wild cactus plant.. Try to ask who is the owner..

to offrecord: I would not mind if small cutting are taken from that cactus without no one permission, but for the record: depends on the law about where cactus is growing do yo have permission to take cutting, even there seems to be enough columns that it's not harm to take one, still law is the law and breaking law is not suitable to this forum IMO.

Bu still I can just imagine how old and who has possible plant a cactus to that place, such a perfect looking cactus plant :bashful:

Can it be that some hippie at 60's has planted san pedro there and now it's big cluster of columns? ...who knows bu ain't wild cactus picking are illegal no matter where cactus is growing, or does that CITES-contract are meant to cactus in their native habitat.. I don't think that's native trichocereus habitat or can there be a small chance it has been spread there without human help?

..I think some hippies at 60's or 70's has planted good potent trichocereus there and now they are forgotten ones growing wild away from their native area.:eskimokiss:

yeah I noticed that as well intelligentlife, I'd say it's worth looking for somebody who might own the property to ask permission.... if it is an open space owned by a real estate company then you could probably go ask them...

I understand (and agree) that poaching is wrong, I don't feel it would be wrong though to take a single cutting from such a large specimen (especially if it is simply a vacant lot which nobody tends) since it definitely wouldn't kill it... and there are plenty of small pups you could take without effecting the aesthetics...

I'm not condoning poaching but it would be worth while (IMHO) to try and take a cutting because I have seen entire clusters of cacti wiped out in a day by development companies... :gocrythen:

From perspective cause they are probably there cause of human action(some one has possible plant cacti there) and so on, so big cluster of columns I don't say one branch cutting to own garden is wrong.. It's like taking a branch from tree or something..

But there is however a law and I don't know foreign country laws but if using common sense, one branch cut to own garden or one branch falling down to earth and decomposing are actually almost same thing..

Another thing is if you are going to rip all columns to you garden...

In common sense I don't see it's wrong o take piece of cactus from that property, but in another case if you know who own the property, who not to contact and ask specimens of flora from the property without damaging the landscape? ....so there is no law broken and I don't think so company who owns property cares anything if you ask flora cutting from property, just do everything in the name of peace and friend of nature.. :bow2:
