My first time

Hello all!
I've been reading through this forum and learning a bit for a good 3 months and I've set my date to go hunting tomorrow around noonish.
I don't really expect to find much actives as it's in Southern MN, but I'll keep everyone posted as to what I come across (magic and not)
I found this perfect general area, with a river that has a forest going all around it, and plenty of open fields on the way. I've been through it before but not as to look for anything nor as far as I'm going tomorrow. I'm really excited.
Hope everyone's having a good saturday!

Good luck man! I grew up in northwest Iowa, an hour from the Minnesota border so I'm familiar with the lack of proper hunting grounds but you should still find some neat stuff, active or not.

The gyms are growing right now in my area.If you have a car go for a ride and look at stumps and under maple trees in grass but keep your eyes on the road too, just drive slow. The maple trees in my area are changing from green to red,so when I see those red leaves I slow down and scan the ground quickly.I have a lot of luck doing this. Found these yesterday for about 3 bucks in gas.

 Good luck.

Do those happen to be active gymnopilus?
that's really impressive. So these are recent and would happen to be around southern MN you think?

Are the leafs in your area changing colors yet? We should be around the same general latitude I think. And yes they are G.junonius(active)that I found yesterday.

They are! There's fields on the way if I progress down this little trail that's along-side a creek, would you recommend me staying in the wooded area or checking out the fields?

I have some information on a specific shroom that I found and was wondering if I could have some assistance?
http://www.mycokey.org/agaric1.shtml?language=uk&localLanguage=uk&searchMode=full&atlasmode=false&r=88996.22575213562
I was using this as a guide, but to no avail.
The much larger of the group I found seems to have a conical pileus, the lamellae appears to be free, and the color of the cap ranges from a dull brown to a cream (it dried from having mud on it)
if anyone would like a picture I'd have to use my very low-resolution laptop camera, but ask if it's necessary I suppose

I identified them I'm pretty sure. Had to let them dry out a bit.
There wasn't any sort of bruising so I was certain it wasn't anything active. \:
I'll try your road idea in a bit when it's dryer out. Sounds like fun!
