I'm a strict vegetarian and I eat whey protein from cows that are allegedly raised the old-fashioned way and given the best treatment.* Anyone who's eating products like what is in the original post is fooling themselves; factory-farmed meat is actually healthier. I do a vegetarian version of the following nutrition guidelines. The following page has a list of statements followed by citations. People might be interested in scrolling through that quickly (it's after the diagram): http://www.bulletproofexec.com/the-complete-illustrated-one-page-bulletproof-diet/

I can get local free range beef, chicken, and pork for less price than the stuff at WalMart and grocery stores
Gotta love the MidWest for that, But I don't think the quality of life is too poor. Whether or not they face pain with an instant method of slaughter/death, well, I doubt it.
A lot of produce that goes to feeding livestock is considered "not fit for human consumption" You ever tried eating horse/colored corn? I have when I was a kid, and it doesn't work.

By the way, Jake Gylenhall is vegan.
My point was pretty simple, Eddie Vedder is not worthy of being listed along with those other people (regardless of whatever the fuck he eats.) He's a forgettable shitty musician, and the other three are noted historical figures. BTW it's "Newton" not "Newtown".
Amen, I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I hate Pearl Jam so much, even before I knew that Eddie Vedder was bleeding heart liberal douche. I'm still waiting for him to leave the country as he promised to do if GW was elected. I probably have almost as much disdain for Obama as he does/did for Bush, but I'd never throw a tantrum and disown the country I was born in and love.
Also who the fuck cares about what Jake Gylenhall eats?

I wish I could go back in time and tell Einstein to fuck off with that bullshit. His concern over human health there is kind of ironic when you consider the letter he wrote to FDR encouraging the US to create the atomic bomb.
I've said it before but there is not one reason why people choose to be a vegan I can respect -For health reasons -For the wittle aminals -Don't like the taste of meat -Religious reasons
Vegetarianism I can understand. If I could eat dairy, eggs, and fish (on occasion maybe some poultry) I could be a vegetarian. But vegan, what the fuck? Enjoy eating beans, avocado, boca burgers and nuts forever.
Im not vegan, I love cheese too much. I drink cream in my coffee and I eat eggs. I hate the taste of milk, and certainly cant stand the smell of meet, I havent eaten it in so long Im sure Id puke if I ate any, just the smell of bacon makes me gag. Peanut butter is 100x tastier than any meat I can ever remember eating.

Because let's see... right now we're eating animals that eat more vegetables than us. An elimination of livestock consumption would also eliminate the need for most of the produce that they consume, vastly increasing the land available for farming more protein-heavy foods.
Also, where'd you get the idea of "300% increase" figure? Could I get a source on that?

Ha I just noticed that smiley was Jake Gylenhall. Don't know why but I can only see smileys if I'm hovering over a thread and not while reading through the thread.

That's crazy man, there's got to me some meat you've liked at one time. Fried chicken doesn't smell good to you?
I could do an ovo lacto vegetarian diet for a few weeks or month no problem. No way in hell could I be a vegan, I'd be constantly starving and pissed off

My ass, would you like me to source more statistics for you? A large portion of these animals are also grass fed. I dont think its as straight cut as you think it is. At any any rate theres a literal fuck ton of variables we would have to take into account to come up with solid numbers for this. So let us both stop blowing wind out of our ass's.

I remember reading that there was an extremely fast/drastic increase in brain size/intelligence whenever humans were able to eat cook and eat meat consistently. Something about vegetables taking much more energy to process, which meant much less nutrients were there for the brain.
So yea, we'd probably have superpowers AND solve overpopulation if we'd all grow a pair and start chowing down on each other.

You asked for sources first, so I figured it was fair. I provided mine. That's all.

I think that eating a hand full of broken light bulbs sound more appetizing than that. Have fun with your veggie crap.
It actually tastes really good - pretty much like hamburger
