ID Help
    #18931692 - 10/04/13 03:15 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Can I get some help with identification please? I was told the where psilocybes but want to double check, cause you know, that whole life thing. After a ton of research I am just not sure.

I found these guys growing in our yard in NW Oregon. They don't seem to be specifically near anything as some were found under a cherry tree, some were in the open by the driveway, and some where next to the house. The only common thing seems to be that they were in grass that was 4- 5 inches long.

They are light brown and have a brown center section on top.
The gills are lighter, sort of a light tan to grayish tan.

The stems are about 1- 2 mm thick and the caps are between 5- 20 mm in diameter.

The spore print was light in color. It is on black background and that was after a couple of hours.

The mushrooms did not bruise or change color really in any way when poked at or squeezed.

I have checked the list of what grows in my area but I just can't be positive. So many of the little ones look similar.

Thanks for the help!

They are a Mycena sp. and you shouldn't eat them.

Thanks for the help. You are right Joie, they were all the same. I actually tossed one aside that was the same size and shape but had dark brown gills. I found half dozen different varieties of mushrooms just walking once around around my house, so I will keep looking. Got to be some out there.
