I personally don't mind the circle of life.
The synthetic flavor stuff weirds me out, but I do eat fast food from time to time still which is loaded with it.

Hamburgers used to be beef, ham/pork, and soy most everywhere.
Rally's/checkers still does it which is  IMO
They're delicious.

Its not necessarily the action of eating meat that bugs me, its how unsustainable it is. Were overpopulated as is and yet we breed an unnatural amount of cattle to a point the earth was designed to support. It takes 7 times as much land to produce 1kg of beef vs 1 kg of grain, 1 kg of grain can be feed more people than 1kg of beef, and then when you consider the resources wasted raising the beef, driving it to slaughter, chemically treating and cleaning it etc etc etc..

We could feed every person on the planet with just the amount of grain north america wastes on cattle.

"Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival for life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet."
Albert Einstein, physicist, Nobel Prize 1921

Well I just mean natural predators and whatnot never would have let cattle populations reach the level there at today, if nature had its way, Im sure wed have significantly less cattle. Cows would be an easy target without human protection.

I don't think much of the soy stuff, but for a minced beef replacement, there's some stuff called Quorn that is the fungi Fusarium venenatum. That's some pretty good shit for vegetarian mexican - and I'm a meat eater saying this.

You gotta eat a lot of soy for that.
Like most things, moderation and balance is key.
It's also important that fermented soy products don't have that effect and they're really healthy.

Who is buying pig assholes? Surely you don't think all meat is like that?
You vegetarian faggots shouldn't even bother with meat 'replacements'. Either you want to be a vegetarian or you don't, not some wishy-washy hipster freak who needs a soy dog slammed up his asshole.

I never said it wasn't healthy - vegetarianism CAN, in many situations, be healthier than non-vegetarianism. I just don't think I could handle not eating meat, and having such a hard time getting enough protein, not to mention the huge cost.

What the fuck is your problem?  I'm not boycotting the taste of meat, I'm boycotting the killing of animals. Brilliant logic there how eating a soy hotdog makes you a "wishy washy hipster freak." :flowstone:

Especially when you can get the exact same taste out of soy as you can out of hormonally-pumped, shit-covered cow raised in a tiny cage its whole life.

 dude it costs way less to eat vegetarian most of the time unless you're buying and eating meat replacements for every meal which itself is costly and unhealthy most times.  If you can plan meals around eggs, nuts, legumes, pulses, beans, mushrooms, eggplants, etc. then it's a lot cheaper.
I was just reading about a Sheriff in Arizona I think that switched the prisons to a vegetarian diet to save money for the state.

Eh, mix in the asshole with the rest of the meat, otherwise you're being wasteful.
I've never gotten sick, and I eat my beef, pork, and fish rare.
Don't eat much chicken, but that's one where you don't lose much flavor whether its pink or white/cooked.

Good steaks get cooked rarer-than-rare, about a minute on the first side, 30-45 seconds on the other.

If you get e. Coli from meat, its either from someone who handled your meat, or you have no immune system.

I don't care about nutrients, cost, etc.,
I care about taste.

Where's a Ron Swanson gremlin when you need one,

Tell me, how often do you catch and eat your own food?

What we humans are doing is not predation. What we are doing is growing and engineering animals to be killed and eaten on a mass scale.

If you literally hunt and kill your own animals, fine, you're a predator. But buying a steak made from a cow raised in a factory farm for you buy a staff of people does not a hunter make.

You vegetarian faggots shouldn't even bother with meat 'replacements'. Either you want to be a vegetarian or you don't, not some wishy-washy hipster freak who needs a soy dog slammed up his asshole.

I didnt get it cuz I need a meat replacement. I get more than enough protein without them. I got it because it tastes good and its a nice addition to pasta sauce.

About 3 or 4 times a year (successfully), its not all for myself either. Just because we dont individually hunt for our own food does not makes us any less predatory as a species.

at that point we're more appropriately compared to cancer cells or amoebas than predators, imo

not really...look at every city. which is a nucleus of human activity. it expands like a dividing cell or even chaotically like cancer cells. there's nothing 'predatory' about it, it's much more chaotic than that.

And why is being predatory a good thing? Did you know that the livestock industry creates more pollution than all forms of transportation combined? All to support a habit which is not necessary.

Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled and unregulated growth.
I'd say human cities are far more controlled and regulated, with the ability to stop growing voluntarily.
All populations of all living organisms grow until the natural resources no longer support that growth, then the population plateaus and drops until it's in equilibrium or dies.  Just because human populations grow and use up resources doesn't make us analogous to cancer.  It just makes us the same as every other living population.

It's a somewhat specious analogy.

You project your personal bias's far too much onto other peoples words, I never said that was our fundamental nature. The simple fact is that we predate upon other animals, not the other way around.

svs: You vegetarian faggots

Does diet affect one's sexuality?

svs: Wishy-washy hipster freak

Does it affect one's social cliques?

svs: Vegetarians are unnatural freaks

Is it natural for humans to raise chickens to slaughter weight within 6 weeks of hatching?

svs: You fucking anti-progress nuts astound me

Would you have said that about Albert Einstein, Henry Ford, Isaac Newtown or Eddie Vedder? They have all achieved greatness in their field. You, on the other hand, just sit at home rattling of your narrow-minded bullshit, probably with a bloody porkchop hanging from those fat greasy lips of yours.

If you are representative of the carnivorous community, it makes one thing clear. Meat makes you stupid.

Yes, it does. Eating meat is normal. If you are not normal, you are all of the things I said you are.
I wouldn't have said those things about those men, because their intellectual contributions overshadow any dietary proclivities.

Unlike your contributions, which consist of impotent bitching.

Those articles are poorly written and poorly cited. Although I've known farm animals emit more greenhouse gas's then cars for a while theres never been anything that genuinely links those activites to being the root cause behind climate change, although they're undeniably a factor, how much of one is up for debate. They're activities that are also not going to stop, regardless of whatever silly little ideals you might hold of the world.

Ah, the descent into nihilism. Tell me, if murder and rape are going to continue regardless of whether you do them or not, then why not murder someone for gain if you could get away with it? It's going to keep happening anyway, right? Why not just rape the next person you have the desire to have sex with? Maybe because you see those things as wrong, regardless of whether or not your abstinence will stop them in the world at large?

Also, I wasn't aware that 10 minutes was enough time for you to read 3 reports, at least one of which was over 10 pages long, and investigate their sources. :cookiemonster:

I wish I could go back in time and tell Einstein to fuck off with that bullshit.  His concern over human health there is kind of ironic when you consider the letter he wrote to FDR encouraging the US to create the atomic bomb.

I've said it before but there is not one reason why people choose to be a vegan I can respect
-For health reasons
-For the wittle aminals
-Don't like the taste of meat :dancingbacon::rolleyes:
-Religious reasons

Vegetarianism I can understand.  If I could eat dairy, eggs, and fish (on occasion maybe some poultry) I could be a vegetarian.  But vegan, what the fuck?  Enjoy eating beans, avocado, boca burgers and nuts forever.:awewtf:

Not to mention it would put a stop to the whole "raising animals which are capable of pain and suffering to be killed for pleasure" thing.

My point was pretty simple, Eddie Vedder is not worthy of being listed along with those other people (regardless of whatever the fuck he eats.) He's a forgettable shitty musician, and the other three are noted historical figures. BTW it's "Newton" not "Newtown".

I dont see how there couldnt be an increase in produce farming, current crops are built around the premise that we use animals to supply us with a full compliment of amino acids. We dont exactly farm protein rich crops anywhere close to the scale that it would take to provide for a majority.

You're mistaken, my last post was in fact composed of words. If you can be bothered to search through my previous posts, you'll find that many of them are as well.

I'm a strict vegetarian and I eat whey protein from cows that are allegedly raised the old-fashioned way and given the best treatment.* Anyone who's eating products like what is in the original post is fooling themselves; factory-farmed meat is actually healthier. I do a vegetarian version of the following nutrition guidelines. The following page has a list of statements followed by citations. People might be interested in scrolling through that quickly (it's after the diagram): http://www.bulletproofexec.com/the-complete-illustrated-one-page-bulletproof-diet/

I can get local free range beef, chicken, and pork for less price than the stuff at WalMart and grocery stores

Gotta love the MidWest for that,
But I don't think the quality of life is too poor.
Whether or not they face pain with an instant method of slaughter/death, well, I doubt it.

A lot of produce that goes to feeding livestock is considered "not fit for human consumption"
You ever tried eating horse/colored corn?
I have when I was a kid, and it doesn't work.

You can't contribute to this discussion with words? Your post is fucking senseless.

By the way, Jake Gylenhall is vegan.

My point was pretty simple, Eddie Vedder is not worthy of being listed along with those other people (regardless of whatever the fuck he eats.) He's a forgettable shitty musician, and the other three are noted historical figures. BTW it's "Newton" not "Newtown".

Amen, I thought I was the only one who felt that way.  I hate Pearl Jam so much, even before I knew that Eddie Vedder was bleeding heart liberal douche.  I'm still waiting for him to leave the country as he promised to do if GW was elected.  I probably have almost as much disdain for Obama as he does/did for Bush, but I'd never throw a tantrum and disown the country I was born in and love.

Also who the fuck cares about what Jake Gylenhall eats?

Im not vegan, I love cheese too much. I drink cream in my coffee and I eat eggs. I hate the taste of milk, and certainly cant stand the smell of meet, I havent eaten it in so long Im sure Id puke if I ate any, just the smell of bacon makes me gag. Peanut butter is 100x tastier than any meat I can ever remember eating.

Because let's see... right now we're eating animals that eat more vegetables than us. An elimination of livestock consumption would also eliminate the need for most of the produce that they consume, vastly increasing the land available for farming more protein-heavy foods.

Also, where'd you get the idea of "300% increase" figure? Could I get a source on that?

That's crazy man, there's got to me some meat you've liked at one time.  Fried chicken doesn't smell good to you?

I could do an ovo lacto vegetarian diet for a few weeks or month no problem.  No way in hell could I be a vegan, I'd be constantly starving and pissed off

My ass, would you like me to source more statistics for you? A large portion of these animals are also grass fed. I dont think its as straight cut as you think it is. At any any rate theres a literal fuck ton of variables we would have to take into account to come up with solid numbers for this. So let us both stop blowing wind out of our ass's.

I remember reading that there was an extremely fast/drastic increase in brain size/intelligence whenever humans were able to eat cook and eat meat consistently.
Something about vegetables taking much more energy to process, which meant much less nutrients were there for the brain.

So yea, we'd probably have superpowers AND solve overpopulation if we'd all grow a pair and start chowing down on each other.

I think that eating a hand full of broken light bulbs sound more appetizing than that. Have fun with your veggie crap.
