Is this a mushroom growing out of my mushroom? Or what?

So when this shroom was just a little pin I noticed the cap was extra pointy compared to the others. Now it appears there is a pin forming on the tip of the cap?
What is this? Mutation?

Mutation or damage that occurred as a pin growing out. Keep taking pictures of it

Ahaha thanks guys. I think damage is definitely a possibility. Glad it doesn't look like anything serious though! That corner of the substrate pulled away from the tray and there are a bunch of shrooms growing out from under the side there, so it could've easily scraped against something. But then again I have a hunch it has something to do with genetics (this is MS btw)...... There is one other shroom with a growth like this, although not nearly as prominent, and it's growing directly from the middle of the sub with nothing in its way to damage it, so... Things that make you go hmmmm....
Glad you guys found this as interesting as I did. I'll throw an update on here for y'all tomorrow or the next day. I think most of these are about to mature anyways.

Some people say they are mutations, but actually most of these monstrosities may be due to diseases (esp. viruses) or parasites in early stages of pinning. type the german word "Bildungsabweichung" in Google Image Search, und you´ll see lots of weird growth in mushrooms as well as plants.
I recently had a cake that started fruiting in the glass, so I put it in a bucket, but I accidentally scraped off a bit of a cap when I tried to get the cake out of the glass. The mushroom grew with a more lightly coloured scar on the cap, but showed no deformation.

Woah, thanks. I never would have found that on my own. Look at this one - LOL!

Now that's a mushroom growing on a mushroom!

Common genetic mutation
But the pic in the woods is definitely bullshit, you can see the dirt where the fruit was picked from the ground

I've had B+ give me entire flushes of these weird mutated caps. Also seen it on a few other variety.
The dirt on the bottom of the stem of the smaller cap is a dead giveaway.

These shrooms are called Lizard King, by the way. I think this strain came from a wild shroom some guy called Lizard King found in Georgia awhile back. Pretty amazing how the descendants of a wild mushroom someone found over a decade ago and hundreds of miles away somehow made it into my hands. It must have been a pretty special mushroom...
Really blows my mind, ya know?

Mushrooms are some of the oldest known organisms on earth, it's pretty amazing we can now grow them in our homes for that matter
